haha this thread is interesting lots of different opinions . :closedeyes: But seriously the flutter sound is for PURE wank factor. Seen a guy in sydney city yesterday with the flutter on his r33 f**k it was loud and yes everyone which was walking turned around to look at the car i sure did heard the car a couple of streets away before it turned the corner. When you think about it all atmo BOV are for wank factor some more then others this is probably the 20th time i have seen a thread about BOV and everytime its the same shit.

Or you can do what i've done, you can take the gasket out of your BOV and replace it with a solid gasket (mine is cut out of tin), drill teh holes and put it in there....BOV is completely closed off and forces turbo flutter the proper way :P lol

Yes you can put a piece of aluminium can in between the flange connection if you want, so that the air returns back through the turbo just to create a bit of noise.

I can also drive my car off a cliff if I wanted to, but it doesn't make it a good idea. That's my point, I don't give a f**k what you do to your car, but I'd like people to show just a bit of common sense if they are thinking about doing something with a negative impact.

LOL dude just relax, someone was asking a question, no need to get worked up. I have my stock BOV blocked off simply so i get turbo flutter, it may or may not damage my turbo, i am not sure.

However, turbo flutter is personal choice. I personally like the sound of turbo flutter, you may not. It's personal taste!

So just take a chill pill mannnggggg

I was just making the point that even by not blocking my bov off I get the flutter, and that is due to the size of it. On larger turbos with bigger compressor wheels they might have the same effect too, but it sounds a lot different to the flutter on a blocked bov running less boost. All I was doing was suggesting you don't do it, but like I said I don't give a f**k what you do to your car because it's your choice.

so flutter is gay... EXCEPT if its YOUR bigger turbo? :D

and if its slowing the turbo down, and damaging it like you claim, why do you let yours do it? :blink:

What the f**k is wrong with you?? Read my replies properly & actually think about it if you really want to attack every one I make to make yourself seem cool. Do that, and you would realise I am talking about completely blocking off the bov, the flutter you get from that, especially when you are running a relatively low boost level. The flutter my car makes isn't all the air going back through, just some of it that isn't really avoidable. In other words purely for the hope you now understand, it's not enough air going back through for me to consider it a dangerous level.

Yeah they asked the question so I gave my opinion, of which plenty of people agree with. I agree it is down to personal choice, but I'm only letting people know that it's not really worth it. You do know this is a forum in which peoples opinions are discussed about different topics right? I hardly call that getting worked up :)

      Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL

      On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.

      Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
