hey dan looks like your silvia is coming along !

you probly don't even remember me, or want to know but some of the things i found out re: moding S13's

however, there are alot of cheap cage's available, but if you want cams approval you have to pay the $$$

ALSO one of the most important things i have to say about fitting a s15bb turbo, is make sure you fit a oil restrictor ! iv'e fitted a couple of these puppies to my s13's and i'm telling you to either get a custom oil feed line made for you from 1/8th hose, or fit a restrictor. And if you didn't buy your turbo with the alloy inlet and outlet adaptor pipes you need a adaptor kit and or t25 alloys bits depending on what you have.

i'm only saying this as i was positive i had mine sorted but now i have to pull stuff apart again. don't want to see anybody else make the same mistake.

1 of the reasons i can't attend this meet, unfortunetly i'm not coming.

oh and august deca looks like a pipe dream, i'm going to the SAU VIC general meeting on tuesday and i'll be pushing some buttons and or sacrificing my time to make it happin.

p.s if you have any questions about your s13 feel free to ask me. i won't bite your head off and i'm a mechanic so i have first hand knowledge.

Hey Dave, yeah I remember you. Hope you've got that seatbelt issue well and truly sorted

Thanks for the tips. I've been doing a bit of reading up on the s155bb swap so I *think* I have a handle on it but it's also great to hear from someone who has done it. I'm tossing up whether or not I wanna go that route now though, might be worth shelling out a few hundred extra for a brand new turbo. Found out I have a mate who has access to cost price disco potatoes and the like. See how we go.

Interesting stuff about the cage. If the cage is not CAMS approved what will that mean to my ability to attend events? I assume SAU DECA days and winton drift/track/fun days will still be fine with any old cage?

Bad luck on the missing out next weekend but hopefully you can pull some strings and get august happening. Depending on the weekend I could probably help out myself.

Cheers

Your cage does not have to be cams approved to attend vic drift days

I put a cams approved one in my car though as ive always driven under a cams license and if i ever want to attend a cams sanctioned event, it will comply :)

no the only thing iv'e done to the car since getting home is brake the headlight........so don't slamm the bonnet if the bonnet stand is not clipped in !!!! omg not cool

The turbo is a good/straight forward upgrade, i got a new one off ebay for my blue silvia for only $900 (when i was building my car) so you just have to be lucky i spose. It won't win HP hero's but it'l be more fun then stock.

I'd come to winton if i hadn't spent the few last weekends working on my gazelle :D i have to replace the sump gasket on the s13, and get a new oil line fitted before i can attend......nevermind i sold my seats and haven't put my bloody pc in the car yet.

what she said. the non tournament style drift days, and deca don't require cam's approved equipment, maybe i'm getting ahead of myself though.

arghh i still want to come, but no local friendly support, ahhh i'll be kicking myself if i don't come.

i'll let u know re: deca, yeh we will need all the help we can get.

See you all there.

I finally got a drift button. Never had one even though I've done a few drift days and heaps of Decas. It will be interesting if I notice it or not haha.

Ey Brendan. Watch out for that pit wall.. It's a doosy haha.

Can't wait.

i installed a drift button. couldnt get the leather handle off. soo i just shoved it in. now it works like a normal handbrake but got this annoying silver shit on the end :)

i fail.

realized i still got so much stuff to finish on the car before sat.

hope to see u guys there.

Very excited for this weekend!

I havent ever been to a Drift event where someone I know is driving - ie having a ride in a car! Russell I cant wait to come for a ride!

Im sure this weekend will give us the motivation to get our drift car up and running...its been too long.

With Roll-cages, how far in drift do you need to go before you need a CAMS approved unit?

We are planning on making a cage ourselves..it will be close to CAMS spec but will be crush-bent...I know it will never be able to be approved but im curious.

Are CAMS approved cages needed for the Championship days at Winton?

My entry is in now.

Can't wait.

Mat the drift car will be sick. We won't ever need cams cage for a drift coz they don't even consider drift a speed event. Sep 5th is our new target date. watch this space!

Hopefully I'll make it, gotta fit the rebuilt brake master cylinder tonight and get some k's up on the new brakes. Has been a hectic lead up but I'm looking forward to see everyone there tomorrow.

I've printed up some special signage for my car (nothing special just some lame A4 paper stuff) so I'll be easy to identify lol

    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
