Yeah cool! Wish i had the money to throw at a project like that. It must be a good feeling not worrying about what the boys in blue think.

Can't wait to see that t-bar go.

What are gonna race it in? Whatever you want i suppose. drag, drift, hill climb, sprints?

the conversion wont be until late august when the car returns to brisbane.

beleive me, im as excited about it as anyone else lol. i just cant do it where i am atm.

the car is going to be a very multipurpose car, and will be raced an any event i can get to.

and yeah i am absolutly sick of being hassled by the cops so i took the plunge and made it a track car, its just much better and it means i can run a propper car.

the main racing i want to start doing is sprints and hill climbs tho.

i would of left the original dash in, yank out the stereo, A/C, and spair din pocket and just make that square bit in aluminium (or carbon fibre) and put ur gauges/ switches there.

otherwise looks tuff, keen to see wot its pullin

goodluck!

yeah i was thinking about it.

but i was aiming for the moon when i was in weight saving mood, and the dash is a fair bit heavier then the ally sheeet.

:P stole my idea of side pipes... nevermind ill have to go twin coming out under each door :D

mate the side pipes are FANTASTIC lol. i really love them and they sound amazing with no cat and no muffler.

i was thinking twin but then i just wanted to get the exhaust out of the car as quick as possible. so i went simple and just dumped it out the side.

it should flow around 30% ish better then previous.

but it sounds absolutle porn

My only suggestion would be to try and make the plumbing from the front-mount to the inlet plenum more direct, reducing the length/bends of piping to the plenum will make your car more responsive.

(I lost a lot of response on my r33 when I went to similar setup as yours).

I have seen 2 ways of doing this, one is by cutting and shutting the existing inlet so the throttle faces forward, the other is just getting a pre-fabricated replacement plenum.

What would be TOTALLY awesome, though, is if you could get an adapter plate to run the side-mount plenum and 6-throttle setup from the rb26. Imagine having the variable cam timing AND the individual throttle setup! wicked.

i thought about your first way, and put it in the to hard basket

i thought about your second way and decided upon that when funds allow.

and i never even thought about your third way, but now that i am my little brain is hard at work pondering it

update pics!!!!!

after finishing the engine i started on presentation and i decided to go for a full reverse panda paintjob, the roof was allready severly scratched from the previous owner so it was a big day witht he sanding block!!!

the bonnet is yet to be done, but the boot and roof are finished, well i still have to fill the holes in the boot and add the new carbon fibre spoiler but you get the idea.

240rwkw but then we had shitloads of blue smoke and i thought we blew an oil seal on the turbo

but turns out i needed to run a restrictor in the oil feed and it was over oiling and causing smoke the.

so hopefully back for round 2 next week :(

Looks like a great project mate. Only suggestion I'd make is to replace the standard seat if you haven't already. They don't hold you in place very well under hard cornering.

thank you

and deffinatly planning on changing the seat, have just been putting the $$ in other areas atm, have to buy a Tow car and trailer this week :)

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
