I'm about to email cobb tuning to work out a quick cheap and easy computer solution. theirs seems like the go for the m35

does anyone have information or photos of inside a m35 ecu?

is it flash? where is it located in the car and is it easy to get out?

is it similar to 350z q45 and other us infinity cars?

p.s. found this photo while searching google for images of the ecu...

The ECU is unique, it's even different to the VQ25DD / VQ35DD version of the Stagea.

As per Iain's instruction, he has taken pics and you can find them in the thread he mentioned.

The ECU's should be remappable, I've been in discussion with Silverwater Automotive Service (SAS) but we cannot begin testing and development until we have a spare ECU :| I've been trying to source one but the only one we had a crack at we got outbid on.

The ECU is located behind the glovebox, don't know how easy to get out but I assume it's a few screws and disconnect the cable.

i think the cobb option will be better than silverwater. have a look into it. it will give us more freedom on what to do..

What exactly is the cobb option?

I done a google and didn't really find anything relevant, just some mob in America or something.

How much freedom are you after?

I think I found what you are talking about, AccessPort?

Looks interesting, zeil20l and I are interested in how you go, keep this thread updated on your progress and results.

Good luck

Cobb do an access port for the 350z, most new infinity models (g35 g37) in the Us, and the GTR And other makes. Mitsu evo x honda etc etc etc

its a flashing utility that you can also live tune with their free software.

so the individual can map their car to their specs, get it tuned live on a dyno. it will be alot better for everyone.

their going to have a bit of experience with the ecu's we're working with i'd think. if they have got the gtr going i am sure they can do a little m35

May be difficult for them as they use inferior fuels to us is the US.

Would be surprised of they do as there is no M35's in the US (not eligible for import there) and Australia is a pretty small market, let alone creating something for an uncommon car in a small market.

Would love the option though.

Be interested to hear how you go.

Good luck!

yeah id like to know also. im guessing its a remap service?

Yep. They really upped their name by being the first to do an effective R35 GTR access port.

Bloody good too from what I read and hear!

I would be surprised if they have had *anything* to do with our ECU at all, we import these cars into Australia and most of the tuner's etc. here havn't had any experience with these ECU's yet.

+1 on this, I don't know how much success your going to have a) getting it to work b) getting maps for the unit (you'll probably just have to do a custom map yourself I'd think).

At the end of the day to purchase the unit and get it shipped you would be looking around $1800? And what if you can't use it on this particular ECU for some reason? Makes my SAS option look pretty good, atleast I know the ECU will be remapped

I have been doing a bit of work to try to work out what OBD language and software is required to work with our computers and as we all know now, our computer is quite different to the V35.

I have been told the Nissan use on the JDM market a different ODB protocol and the logic that it uses is not common to the protocol. This means that it is difficult to find software that will talk with our cars. I am not sure if this will have any influence on the operation of the COBB but be aware that the JDM ODB protocol is not necessarily compatible with the US ODB protocol which may effect the ability of this computer to work.

I will keep working on a solution and I may have one soon.

The Americans use a diffent standard to measure Octane (AKI (anti knock index, an average of RON and MON)), so US 87 is actually the same as the 91 (RON) Octane muck we get here. Hence why we can export Commodes over there... Their 91 (AKI) Premium is about 95-96 , same as our entry Premium and the European normal. Recently they also started to get Supreme 94 (AKI) which is about the same if not better as our 98 Premium... Europen Premium was 97 but has crept up over the years and now is about 99, so my friends in the UK tell me.

So they are getting better...

Now once Ben gets the 350RX complianced, there should be some synergies with this Cobb option...

May be difficult for them as they use inferior fuels to us is the US.
I will await their reply anyhoo,

the Us fuel has nothing to do with what i'm seeking from them!

i'm after a live tuning solution to the car. not some reflashed generic tune "chip"

Using a Consult cable perhaps?

hmm between this possibility and the dump, I don't think I could get much more interested...

EDIT... No wait! My headlights just turned up! :P

HA!

You talk big from another state, with your wide tyres, your flowing 3" turbo back exhaust, your fancy 550hp turbo, your road-hugging Bilstein suspension.... umm....

*cough*

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
