Sorry to hear about the accident. Since its not your fault hope you can claim as much back from his insurance as possible!

But seriously, no insurance on an R32 GTR? Even my shitbox daily I drive to work and shops and whatever has third party - first few days of driving it with no insurance it just didnt feel right - I didnt care about the car but if I were to run into something $100k worth I'd be reamed up the rear end hard.

Your absolutely right. I don't. It's a free country.
As far as I can see no one's come "crying to you when the house wins". A little bird once told me if you ain't got nothing nice to say then shut the f**k up! Nice of you to put the cliches and metaphors in there for those of us too retarded to understand your real issue tho.

Yes, it is a free country - anyone should be able to voice their opinion as they please.

rofl cry me a river.. this is a forum, i thought i spelled it out easy enough for plebs like you to understand - tho you could do well to take your own advice about STFU, cause you've added nothin to this discussion so far.

Sure the guy hasnt had a whinge about not having insurance, mainly I suspect because the onus is on the other guy to pay since he was at fault. If it was his fault tho, and he wasn't insured he'd be liable for a lot of cash. EOA.

+1 for Vu

and wow David cant sleep sounds pretty much spot on your did however forget go buy a packet of large tim tams and farmers union iced coffee to console your woes

I didn't forget. I assumed he had those already. These are items that should be in your armoury at all times! :)

Sorry Dave, you're dead wrong on this

No I not. The guy asked for guidance.

You felt the need to point out the mistake. I believe he would have realised that on his own.

If he'd have caused the accident then yes. Since hes >lucky< relatively speaking, the other bloke was in the wrong and has to pay for the damages.

However as you pointed out, it can take years to resolve compo claims if you dont have your own insurance company. He might not get paid out for another year.

Bad luck on crashing hope the other guy is honest and doesnt try turn the story around, its harder to prove fault when you dont have your insurance companies lawyers on your side.

To all those who think its stupid to drive without having your car insured, its always a gamble with odds against you because the insurance companies have to make money. I didnt get full comp because if I dont total my car in 7 months then insurance costs will have surpassed my cars agreed value, which would make me an idiot to drive with it.

nobody is arguing the lack of insurance on cheap cars. I didnt bother with my VN for that exact same reason. skylines however are a different story

So i go away for a couple days and come back to this.... Nice!

My bad. I guess when i wrote this post i should have addressed as HELPFUL GUIDANCE, Let me know ur HELPFUL thoughts! Stay out of this post Dohmar cos ur not helping me out ay cos u've got no useful guidance for me.

If you have a car thats worth more than $20k. as most GTR's are, and you are aware of the fact that a) GTR's are a favourite for car thieves and b) its an import and costs a LOT of money to get fixed. If you seriously drive an imported street legal racecar, and think that its going to be cheap to fix out of your own pocket, then you're deluded. And if you can afford a 32 GTR and not afford the insurance, then in actual fact, you cannot afford an R32 GTR. Period.

I don't see who made u the judge as to what i do with my cash. It is a choice that i have made. It has been my choice to go without insurance for the past few years and and that is the gamble i have taken. And i don't need to justify myself to u, or anyone!

It might seem harsh, but stupid is as stupid does. Im not saying you deserved to crash or injure yourself, but you're playing with fire anytime you take ANY car out on the road without insurance, double that if its an import and double that again if its a niche car that thieves and hoons like to drive.

Its like having a $45k car and driving it on the road with bald tyres. We all know how that turns out.

And while this is a bastard of a thing to say, if you gamble and lose, its your own damn fault. Dont come crying to me when the house wins. I have absolutely no sympathy for gamblers.

Nice use of cliches, Forest but what useless crap u have to say has nothing to do with what GUIDANCE i have requested. So stay out of this discussion. Something tells me that if this was an in-person discussion u wouldn't be so opinionated. Funny how u can voice ur opinions so much stronger behind the safety of a keyboard.

And another thing i never came "crying to you". Do youself a favour and stay out of the discussion please mate.

nothing wrong with being self insured guys.

you just need to remember that without third party, you are responsible for any damage to other people's property. it's one thing not to have your car covered, but to not cover what damage you might cause to other people's property - with no means to pay it back later - it socially irresponsible IMHO. 3rd party only is VERY cheap, I like to refer to it as "rolls royce" insurance - ie: you won't have to fit the bill for a rolls royce if you hit one :P

Be ready for a shit fight mate, insurance companies often fight hard against people with no insurance. they will automatically assume that you won't be able to afford a lawyer also and will use theirs to try and put some blame onto you.

You'll also have to respond to all of THEIR demands if you want your money as you don't have someone to keep up the fight for you. It is very hard to battle against an insurance company as a layman.

watch 'em try and value your car at around $13K as a start too - this is redbook low end for trade in value. and be careful with quoting costs for modified parts - got a quote on a factory exhaust before? it will cost WAY more than any HKS/APEXi/TRUST jobbie you can find, used or new. I saw someone try and up receipts for mods once, the insurance company argued that the cost of all the factory parts should be DEDUCTED from the cost of the vehicle prior to adding on the cost of the aftermarket pieces. They may even begin to bring into account the relative roadworthyness of your car if you start quoting things like coilovers etc - if they can do that, all of a sudden blame starts to head your way"in court "His car was un-roadworthy and un-insurable, look he couldn't even get insurance, his car should not have been on the road!

your best bet is to find cars in similar condition and level of modification to yours for sale and argue the value that way.

Be VERY careful in your wordings, make sure all your correspondance is written and get legal advice - QUICK. the couple of grand a lawyer might cost for a couple of quick letters (like, tomorrow or tuesday) may mean the difference in $10-15K payout.

You could think that, but you'd be wrong. And yeah its your choice, but if you crash, or get your car stolen without comprehensive, you'll be in the shiznit. Fact.

Nn sweetie.

if you need a motor specialist solicitor ill give you the number of someone that can probably help

^^ very sound advice don't go sprouting your mouth off about any mods due to most of them not being ADR compliant

Thanks mate, that would be great

I've watched this thread go to shit, now it's time to step in...

Enough!

Please keep this on topic, the OP came on here and asked a question, before he knew it he was being bombarded by posts which had nothing to do with what he asked. Any further OFF TOPIC posts in this thread will lead to a 7 day holiday, don't beleive me? Try it. Sick of this in fighting/bickering stage that we are going through at the moment

    • When I said "wiring diagram", I meant the car's wiring diagram. You need to understand how and when 12V appears on certain wires/terminals, when 0V is allowed to appear on certain wires/terminals (which is the difference between supply side switching, and earth side switching), for the way that the car is supposed to work without the immobiliser. Then you start looking for those voltages in the appropriate places at the appropriate times (ie, relay terminals, ECU terminals, fuel pump terminals, at different ignition switch positions, and at times such as "immediately after switching to ON" and "say, 5-10s after switching to ON". You will find that you are not getting what you need when and where you need it, and because you understand what you need and when, from working through the wiring diagram, you can then likely work out why you're not getting it. And that will lead you to the mess that has been made of the associated wires around the immobiliser. But seriously, there is no way that we will be able to find or lead you to the fault from here. You will have to do it at the car, because it will be something f**ked up, and there are a near infinite number of ways for it to be f**ked up. The wiring diagram will give you wire colours and pin numbers and so you can do continuity testing and voltage/time probing and start to work out what is right and what is wrong. I can only close my eyes and imagine a rat's nest of wiring under the dash. You can actually see and touch it.
    • So I found this: https://www.efihardware.com/temperature-sensor-voltage-calculator I didn't know what the pullup resistor is. So I thought if I used my table of known values I could estimate it by putting a value into the pullup resistor, and this should line up with the voltages I had measured. Eventually I got this table out of it by using 210ohms as the pullup resistor. 180C 0.232V - Predicted 175C 0.254V - Predicted 170C 0.278V - Predicted 165C 0.305V - Predicted 160C 0.336V - Predicted 155C 0.369V - Predicted 150C 0.407V - Predicted 145C 0.448V - Predicted 140C 0.494V - Predicted 135C 0.545V - Predicted 130C 0.603V - Predicted 125C 0.668V - Predicted 120C 0.740V - Predicted 115C 0.817V - Predicted 110C 0.914V - Predicted 105C 1.023V - Predicted 100C 1.15V 90C 1.42V - Predicted 85C 1.59V 80C 1.74V 75C 1.94V 70C 2.10V 65C 2.33V 60C 2.56V 58C 2.68V 57C 2.70V 56C 2.74V 55C 2.78V 54C 2.80V 50C 2.98V 49C 3.06V 47C 3.18V 45C 3.23V 43C 3.36V 40C 3.51V 37C 3.67V 35C 3.75V 30C 4.00V As before, the formula in HPTuners is here: https://www.hptuners.com/documentation/files/VCM-Scanner/Content/vcm_scanner/defining_a_transform.htm?Highlight=defining a transform Specifically: In my case I used 50C and 150C, given the sensor is supposedly for that. Input 1 = 2.98V Output 1 = 50C Input 2 = 0.407V Output 2 = 150C (0.407-2.98) / (150-50) -2.573/100 = -0.02573 2.98/-0.02573 + 47.045 = 50 So the corresponding formula should be: (Input / -0.02573) + 47.045 = Output.   If someone can confirm my math it'd be great. Supposedly you can pick any two pairs of the data to make this formula.
    • Well this shows me the fuel pump relay is inside the base of the drivers A Pillar, and goes into the main power wire, and it connects to the ignition. The alarm is.... in the base of the drivers A Pillar. The issue is that I'm not getting 12v to the pump at ignition which tells me that relay isn't being triggered. AVS told me the immobiliser should be open until the ignition is active. So once ignition is active, the immobiliser relay should be telling that fuel pump relay to close which completes the circuit. But I'm not getting voltage at the relay in the rear triggered by the ECU, which leaves me back at the same assumption that that relay was never connected into the immobiliser. This is what I'm trying to verify, that my assumption is the most likely scenario and I'll go back to the alarm tech yet again that he needs to fix his work.      Here is the alarms wiring diagram, so my assumption is IM3A, IM3B, or both, aren't connected or improper. But this is all sealed up, with black wiring, and loomed
