Did a google of this error and it seems the consensus was to take it to someone and get it fixed.

However, sometimes CDs work and sometimes they don't, so potential causes are?

And if I do get it looked at, most likely issue and cost to fix? Was working fine on the way home from the dealership. Only started when I attempted to play Johnny Cash -.-

Lmao.

Kk, will give them a call. After I bought the car I actually had to run back to the dealer (just down the road) as I couldn't figure out how to get the fuel flap open ;( Such an odd way of doing it. I've never seen it done the way the stagea does it.

ETA: Thanks!

Gold Star Autos in Strathpine.

Grabbed it for umm, $15,250 - 2003 M35 with 112,000 on the clock, a bit higher than I wanted to go but hey, for $15,250 (drive away) I'm not complaining.

I quite like it, far quicker than my falcon was and both my parents prefer it over their XR6. Bloody easy to speed in though, will take some getting used to.

Yep, the dealer should have that covered, although it is understandable that the CD player would break down, you did play Johnny Cash after all.

I am still trying to recover from hearing some of his rendition of Soundgarden's classic "Rusty Cage" years ago. :)

...Nope, just tied listening to it again via youtube... :):)

Now where the hell is "Terry GT-R34" when you need him :)

fuel flap opens by pushing on it (its locked when the car is locked).

just out of interest its actually the same mechanism as a mitsubishi 380 - i hired one in perth last year and spent at least 15 minutes looking for the button to open the fuel flap. so when it came time to fill the M35 for the first time, and not finding a button, I knew to check that.

thankfully thats where the similarities between the two cars end. The 380 is "ok" i guess. At the start of the week I was pretty happy with it, but by the end of the week the FWD-ness and horrible on-off traction control was driving me crazy.

really? you cant test every function of the car before you take delivery

i think thats the reason WHY the 3 months stat warranty was introduced, so the buyer doesnt buy a lemon and not be able to do anything about it

Seems to be working again, will do some more thorough testing over the weekend. I suspect it is only playing up when I have more than 1 CD loaded in it, if that's the case then I'll leave it as I cbf getting someone to drive 100km with me then returning in a few days to pick it up.

Pics, sorry for the relatively poor quality. Using mums camera and I have nfi on how a DSLR works.

Need to pay Dad the last 5k for it (I borrowed from parents) and then spend a bit on handling mods and aesthetic mods before I turn to power. Having driven a falcon for 3 years and a daewoo for 1 this power is fine for now.

ETA: A few of those photos look the same, but they're not :) I just get enthusiastic.

Ohh, and a photo of the bastard who forced me to buy it:

RX.

Not leather, opted against leather as I will have the GSD pictured above in a cage in the back and my Husky in the back seats and the dogs have done a pretty good job on mums leather sofa just from climbing on it ;(

TV/Satnav, no sunroofs. Sunroofs would have been nice but unfortunately not.

Nope.. It never worked when they bought the car in from Japan, so why should they fix it for me...

A very high percentage of the 6 stacks break on the boat because they did not park the mech before loading them on the boat. Loads of them break in Japan, because they are made of plastic...

Just one of those things.. And also why I have a PAS11.Nis sitting on the floor in my office as well as Griffin Tune Center and a IF remote extender...

I will get it all working soon with display on the Panasonic screen...

Experience?

So did yours ever get fixed?

The guys I got it from actually said to me as I was taking it "If anything isn't working bring it back and we'll fix it" - I only just remembered, so I guess if I took it back they'll fix it regardless but like I said, mine was working when I took it as I listened to a cd on the way home.

What's the go with the radios in these? I can't tune anything over 90.0 - aftermarket mod required here or a setting I haven't noticed?

    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
    • I'd say it's a fair bet that the feed and return fluid lines will be in different enough spots that you would need to come up with a way to cut the originals short and adapt with new hard line adaption or braided teflon hoses or somesuch. But really, you have the car, you have the photos of the DMAX rack - you should be able to go out there and see for yourself whether they're in the same or different spots.
    • I've been doing some looking around and honestly was just considering throwing a new rack at it. I saw that the dmax silvia rack bolts up into the 33 with the silvia bushings but not sure if the high pressure lines will sit in the correct spot. I believe other version of the 33 rack are the same/similar to the racks that can be opened up without as much fuss so I assume the dmax rack would fit but any ideas?
    • I've never played with one, but I would expect that you are correct. That slot looks like it is intended to be used to unscrew the end, and the flats on the body would be better than grabbing it around the round bit with a pipe wrench. So, yeah, probably unscrews. You'll probably have to make a tool to drive in that slot.
