Haven't been on here for a while now. Cars been going really well. Over the chrissy break and next year will be taking it of the road and doing a bit of a tidy up round the engine bay, modifying intercooler piping and fitting the GTR bar on, that's been sitting in my shed now since the beginning of the year, and getting the gearbox rebuilt. Got the spoiler properly removed, debadge and a little bit of paint slapped on. Got new rims at the beginning of the year and have been enjoying driving her for a change. Oh yeah, went to the drags couple of weeks ago for the first time and managed to a 12.75 at 119mph. Heres a couple of pics.

updates:

Chassis rail has been pulled back into position, interior has been completely stripped, all heating & cooling (incl under dash) stuff removed, new thermos & radiator soon to go in, coilovers will be rebuilt soon & the huge mess of unnecessary wiring left over will be removed/tidied at some stage. After that it's a new Velo seat & harness and back on track.

Well mine won't be moving for a bit, due to a lack of forward planning.

Our driveway is a steepish uphill, and my GF has parked her S13 in front of my 4WD Ceffy :P

Still, on a more positive note, the new lambda sensor has cured the lumpy running when cruising at motorway speeds, and the spluttering above 170km/h. Tomorrow I'll take the RWD Volvo out for some fun doing donuts in car parks. :D

R32 gts4-r is running great with gt-r frontbar and grill finally finding their way on the front.. waiting on an oil cooler, clutch slave and master and a brake master (urgh) before i'd call it 100% :).

R32 gts-t got dynod at 128 RWKW, not bad for a stocky RB20 :).

Well, got to go out in the end, and discovered the hard way that the front diff is an open diff. Anyone know if that can be swapped for an LSD of some sort? Maybe an A31/R32 rear LSD will swap onto the front? That's my plan for the summer once I fix the suspension. Apparently our winters are due to get a lot colder, due to global warming.

Don't worry, that bit of front bumper in the foreground belongs to someone else :D

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?
    • roof rail delete used to be a thing, they were made locally for a while too
    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
