KiwiRS4T
Speedster still a hoon at 79 Melbourne - A 79 year old man driving his 1999 Mitsubishi Magna sedan at 160km/hr in a 100km/hr zone has become Vitoria's oldest hoon. Police said they first spotted him near Kalkee, in Victoria's northwest on Wednesday afternoon and finally pulled him over 23km later [what do Victoria cops drive that it took them 23km to catch him?!] His car will be seized under the hoon law and he will be charged with driving at a dangerous speed and exceeding the speed limit, police said. They are concerned that this is not an isolated incident. In January they nabbed a 78 year old [Dale?] in a hotted up Nissan Pulsar driving at 170k/hr in a 100km/hr zone, in Warragul, east of Melbourne. Police have impounded 1768 vehicles this year and 8345 since the new legislation was introduced three years ago. -AAP [Thought I was an old hoon but as a professional (truck) driver I have to save these kinds of speeds for the track] Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/281339-todays-newspaper/ Share on other sites
iamhe77
The problem with these hoon "laws" is that they are totally subjective. If the police feel that you are behaving like a hoon, they can take your car. there is many a night where Falcodore drivers try to write their names on estate roundabouts (and school ovals), but if you call the cops, all you get is a "thank you. We will look into it", but never do. AND the elderly in Magnas, of course Being of Said age of 79 and un able to see? Why does this guy have a license?Maybe police should be trageting old people with wicked sub-woofers? Who said they had poor eye sight? There are quite a number of old racers that can most certainly still drive bloody well. Target old people with sub-woofers? Nah, just use them as attempted comedy for car insurance adds... Mayuri Krab
there is many a night where Falcodore drivers try to write their names on estate roundabouts (and school ovals), but if you call the cops, all you get is a "thank you. We will look into it", but never do. You are not reporting the incident in the "right" way. ie you are not grabbing the copper's attention with your report thats why none of them bother to show up. Next time you see those guys/girls again with their falcodores doing burnouts & stuff, ring the cops up & say "There are some Asian guys in a bunch of riced up imports (mention the name Skyline some where...) hooning around & doing burn outs in & casusing excess noise in <insert location here>" Then the coppers will be there real quick! & when they arrive just tell them: "You just missed those guys, the asian guys with their imports just left, but since you guys are here can you impound those falcodore instead?
