Everyone should email the transport minister with a complaint about the Nazi regime called reemgency demanding reform. Why do they want equal laws in regards to traffic offences with other states, yet we have a system that are a law unto themselves???

:bs!::bs!:

i know, but how many of ppl out there have? Even if u haven't been defected, a letter stating how it is unfair that your car can be taken off the road - even if it has a full engineers cert. is helpful. Unlike queensland who can have what the fik they want.

For the life of me, I can’t understand the whole compliance process and all the REGENCY, ADR, SEVS, WHATEVER, requirements. You can’t tell me that a car that is 7 years old (which is way ahead of it’s time compared to the cars manufactured locally), coming from a country with 80+ million people, is less roadworthy or safe.

There they are worrying about:

- child capsule restraints (Yer…like I’m gonna have a capsule in the back of my 33)

- Tyres with ‘M’ ratings

- Stickers with ‘Unleaded Fuel only’ (Nah shit)

- Spare wheels painted yellow with 50Kph stickers on them (Gee, I was thinking about taking my car down the quarter with the space saver on)

I can understand if they need to make sure that the car is ‘roadworthy’ before it is registered (tread on tyres, brakes OK, Chassis OK, etc) but the pedantic BS that they worry about is unbelievable. It’s a mathematical certainty that most if not all of the imports that come off the boat are in better condition than the clapped out VB Commadores and XE Falcons cruising around Adelaide.

(Ahhh…Those child capsule restraints…what an eye sore!)

No wonder Nissan couldn’t be stuffed importing Skylines properly, too much BS.

I really wished that I have my car registered in Qld before I had it shipped over, then I wouldn’t have received the treatment from the Gods at Regency.

well we could just tell them that the nazi rule of the sa police force are making us too scared to leave our driveways cause of the continual harasment we recieve from the piggers daily and that soon no1 will import viechals because it is simply costin too much to keep the viechals if were visiting regency evry 2 months and getting fine even though we all have perfectly road worthy cars that dont polute the enviroment and dont cause acciedents on our roads unlike rusted out corrolas /commodores /colts etc that polute our environment cause accidents (simply cause the rust appart)and dont comply with australian standards.

for example i was cruising to town doing christmas shoppin with my dad the other day and we pulled up next to this rusty kingswood with sup hippy singing his head off with no seat belt on he had a dog in the back running around barking cause his radio was too loud and his back seat had been eaten away by sumthing one of his break lights were ****ed all 4 of his tyres were bald, then a cop on a bike (a traffic cop )pulled up behind him waited for the light to go green and road off as if he didnt notice its unfair to all of us that people with cars like that dont even get ##### looked at and we cop apsouloute harassment evry day we drive just cause we have nice cars

terry.m, doesnt surprise me at all. A mate who tried to transfer his rego from WA was told he had to remove the OEM spare wheel on a stock original Landrover discovery as it 'obscured the tail light' from a particular angle.

I agree with Bl4cK32, e-mail the minister for transport, but also the shadow minister, more likely to see something happen that way. Also, ask for a detailed response, and ask specific questions - make enough work for them and they might actually do something about it.

Hopefully my submission will create a bit of work for them:)

hippy, you are right. Old cars dont have as many ADRs to comply with.

BUT they still do have to comply with the road traffic act, which is basically to make sure cars are safe on the roads.

This is where I think they miss the point of ADRs, they are there to ensure cars arent designed in a way that could be dangerous, not to make sure cars dont get modified by enthusiasts.

The reason I say this is that firstly other states allow modified cars on the roads, just work with the owners to make sure they are safe - makes sense.

Tim Ireland acutally recommended to me that if I wanted to own a modified car, I should mod an old one then I could do what I want, and as no design laws apply (or emissions laws if pre 1972) I can do as I like and wont get hasselled. - clever beaurocracy, make moddifying old cars legal, but new cars illegal - that will certainly improve vehicle safety on the roads eh?

Someone I know went through a defect station, and had their car inspected. The car was the only commodore, the other 10 cars there were imports (mainly skylines). The commodore was a 1981, it had been lowered and had extractors. It also had engine oil leaks (front seal), power steering leaks (from the supply line out of the power steering compressor), two exhaust leaks (it sounded like a truck), all the emissions equipment had either been removed or crudely blocked which looked obvious - including the carbon canister, lastly the wing mirror was a bit loose.

After the cop had inspected under the bonnet, he went up to the driver and bumped the mirror, said ' you better get that fixed' and told the driver to be on her way.

How many imports would get away with that? But an old, and obviously defective commodore, no probs.

i have my VR4 inspected on monday, so i will post about it.

...we cant win this battle until war doesnt start....

We need to get togeather and blew up whole regency with inspectors in it , including us, then maby futher generations will have ease with moded cars.

I know that this sounds stupid, but why are soldiers dying, for fun? no...

...also i will come with my dad, and will see what is all about....

police wrote in my paper that i need to change BOV and put resonator on my exausth, i will do that before i go, and i will act confused and tell them that they need only to check those 2 points, nothing else....

but i know that they will sh^t me.

It's all about money...

i came to Australia 5 years ago, and now is making me sick with stupides laws in the world. Yes you can afford good car and toys for it but you can use it....that's like haveing $$$$ but not be able to spend it.

........wery behind rest of the world

and for australian cars, they are one of the worst in the world, you need to but TOP of the range version to get them with power windows..c mon

reality sucks and it wont be considered till somebody gets killed....

sorry but i know that many drivers feel like me...

o well, i guess it's time to sell our turbos coz this is just redicilous. I love my turbo but beeng targeted as a criminal is too much, and i cant afford it.

BTW anyone interested in Apexi BOV fully adjustable, i will sell it coz it's off anyway. Spread arround coz i need money, any reasnoble offer will be considered.

PM me for more info

...i know that one person cant do change, but 100 signatures probably would.

There is a lot of clubs in adelaide, i recon that we should all join togeather and protest or something, coz current situation sucks. Also i would band for shops to sell so called illegal parts, then maby something would change afther couple of buisneses go down....

why should queensland or japan be any diffrent to S.A.

i think it's time!!!!! but i cant do it myself

...ups ...sorry Steve (i'm new u know)

any way i passed my regency at once, but my magna flow was still bit loud , even if engine was louder.

But by some crazy luck he passed me with little oil leak, hidden Turbo timer(Mallboro cigarette box...) and only one baby capsulescrew point.....

lucky me

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
