THERE IS A GOD!

I just got pulled over about 10min ago and cop asked me to pop the bonnet hadn't done n e thing wrong and was sitting on the speed limit.....

I thought ok here comes the yellow sticker, seen my BOV, measured up my steering wheel and ride hide and said it was too low and my stering wheel was too small even tho i have passed every time with it?!?!?!?!?!?

And then came the wierd part..... "Now mate i'm gonna let you off but if i see you again and those things are not fixed i will pull you over and defect you for them"

Oh my god let off!

There is a god and it also shows that not all cops are that bad!

But i can tell you now that those things are about to be fixed!

He was also a traffic cop which made this all the more unbeleivable!

I've had a fair bit of luck too! Touch wood!!!

Been pulled over three times in the past month and only got a fine once for doing 92 in a 60 zone on West Tce, plus my mate said i had a 30cm flame hanging out and still didn't get defected!!

But I'm sure my day will come and then use will all be laughing at me! Look forward to it????

We all do the wrong thing from time to time, but a bit of common sense on the roads would go a long way to improving our (imports & modified car owners in general) image. I'm not suggesting we never ever dare to exceed posted limits, or accelerate heavily to the limit, but a bit of common sense & descretion as to when & where we "enjoy" our cars is a good idea.

That said I think the damage was done long ago & we will all pay for it for a long time to come :P We pay for it in the form of higher insurance premiums (or rejection of insurance for younger drivers!) & additional negative focus by SAPOL & Regency Park.

Or ILUVTPTSA

The petition is being run concurrently by SKYLINED.

I agree that a bit of discretion goes along way - I was told by a member of the EPA, that the police did such a good job of defecting cars over the christmas period, that regency told them to put the brakes on for a while as they didnt have the manpower to handle all the cars coming through.

Heresay, but I do trust the word of the guy who told me, he is reasonably high up with them. He is the one that told me about 'rally reg', that get automatic exemption on alot of things, like no cat, 96db exhausts, they have an entire book out that details exactly what mods you can do that are outside current road traffic act limitations.

sounds like you're finally gettin some lucky with getting bits and piece's of information from the nutcases at regency steve.

Although i have to admit that i've seen nearly as many cops out recently as normal.

Haven't been inspection stations down @ the bay nor on Rundle Street next to target.

Hey PPL.

Sorry steve i have missed heaps of this tread.

I had another aweful experience just b4 christmas.

For those that don't know i am an Adelaide based importer specializing in 15yr old imports.

I had a white 1988 Stock Rx7 to take thru.

I was first up at 8am, now i got knocked back for.......

washer jet wasn't aimed 100% at rear windsecreen and same for front. (rx7's have 2 jets in one on either side) one of each did hit the windscreen

turbo timer wiring which once they pulled it hard enough came out and guess what...... now the power aeiral doesn't work

tyres which had 75%tread left but were mounted on r32 skyline wheels.

reflectors on the lower rear quarters. because they were red!!!!!

5.5 hrs later these incompetent wankers passed me.

Now i chased it all up and everything on this car was 110%legal.

Something has to be done.

  • 4 weeks later...

Still ploding along :P I havent given up yet. I keep discovering new interesting things every week.

If you want to keep track of what they say please do. And dont be scared to ask as many questions as you can about getting cars modded, as inconsistancy between different people is one of the major problems with the joint IMHO.

Thanks for your support

Steve

I agree totally Steve. A mate of mine just bought a Evo 3 from Victoria, (technically its a GSR modified into an Evo 3 as you cannot import Evo 3's in Australia.) However, all the modifications have been approved and the car came accompanied with an engineer's certificate for ALL modifications, and was cleared and registerd in Victoria, complies with all ADR's and then he gets it here and Regency says, sorry we don't care about your engineer's certificate or the fact that the car's already been registered in another state, we want a full inspection and we'll tell you when we feel like doing it! The poor bloke tried to explain that he was gonna be in breach of contract if the car isn't registered with SA plates under his name within 2 weeks and they didn't even give a f**k!! I mean the car was Aus. Delivered to begin with and has already been cleared!!

MTX Imports, its totally out of control there, they need to be put out to pasture, and the responsibility to comply modifications given to the profesionals instead of this bunch of retired bus conductors and frustrated mechanics who probably cant cut it in the real world.

any chance your mate could drop me an e-mail detailing in his own words what happened?

Cheers

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
