Hi Peeps - I need to vent - apologies in advance.

I'm a bit pissed:

* The Gloria took heaps longer than expected to arrive (no-ones fault, it just did)

* Spent ALL last weekend doing it up for blue slip (when I say all weekend - I mean 7:30am till 9:00pm Sat & Sun)

* Didn't risk the snow tyres so spent $750 on 4 new tyres

* Took the wheels off the car , put them in the boot of my old mans car , took them up to Bridgestone for the new Yokos.

* Custom made tinted acrylic covers for fog lights as the glass was busted on them when it arrived

* Re-Sprayed front bar where there were a few scratches

* Fitted Child restraints as I thought they would ping me for not having these (anchors were there but not the hooks)

* Cleaned and polished the shit out of it (came up nice BTW)

* Installed and wired new horn as none came with it.

* Fixed all the lights and bulbs etc

* Fixed the speakers and stereo

* Removed remote starter

* Removed all the rice that the Japanese owner had in it (weird stuff like mobile phone holders and this shit that was double sided sticked all over the inside)

* Checked and cleaned all brakes (pads and disks, front & rear)

* Oil Change

* Oil Filter Change

* Air filter change

* Fuel filter change

* Cleaned and de-geased engine bay

* Cleaned and de-greased wheels

AND GUESS WHAT - THEY FAILED ME (Blue Slip) FOR BAD FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION RUBBER (the bit between the strut and the chassis)

FARK, FARK, FARK.

I was hoping to have it registered tomorrow so I could go driving on the weekend -

I haven't driven a car properly for like 5 months - Ahhhhhh

I'm a bit dis-appointed - but I vow to move on and fix it all !

And the Gloria will be registered - First Y31 in Oz !

Frigging Blue slip inspection stations........

Actually to be honest they were pretty good about it - instead of failing me , they said ' go and fix it, bring it back , then pay us and we will stamp the blue slip'

So It could have been worse - but I am still pissed !

SO - If anyone know where I can get a genuine OR replacement OR similar for other model : Front Strut upper suspension bush/rubber for a Y31 Goria - then please let me know ASAP

/ end rant

Yes Phil - that's what I have to do.

I'm going to ring Hornsby Nissan today to see if they can match the part via part number to another model - hopefully it is the same as another Nissan !

Ahhh !

It just so happens that the new guy sitting next to me at work was a mechanic at Hornsby Nissan until he got this job. Maybe he can help in your search

I don't think compliance makes your car roadworthy - that I think is seperate.

The compliance people ensure that it complies to Aust. Design Rules. Eg: Seat Belts, Childs Restraint anchors, Side Intrustion Bars and Engineers Certificate.

All of this was done (yes it took a bit longer than expected)

The Blue Slip is the same as a pink slip but with a Vehicle Identity check (checks for re-birthing) -

So - the bits I need (The upper strut rubber bush thingies) were the only thing that they found wrong with is - and really should be changed.

If the car was a Falcondore, they prolly would have been able fix it straight away but alas - I chose a unique Nissan.

Anyway - I rang Hornsby Nissan and they can get the parts - $60 each Ex. Japan - 2 weeks wait !

AHHHH - Still no car for another 2 weeks !!!!!!!!

Furken Furken

At the rate this is going, my R33 will be back on the road before the damn Gloria !!

Even worse than warm beer is NO BEER.

Got home after 2 weeks in the desert and there's no beer in the fridge. :(

B-man, Y, oh Y31?

I take it nothing local matched it. We should take our hats off to Hornsby Nissan, they've been doing a good job supporting these imports.

Yeah - Hornsby Nissan ROCKs.

They were really really helpfull. Even faxed me a copy of the exploded diagram so we could be sure that we are talking about the right part.

They have the entire Nissan Parts catalog on CDROM. Even imports like the Gloria - of which the guys at Nissan are going like WTF is a Gloria -

All they needed was the chassis number - and bob's my Auntie.
