Guys,

I just put some 19's on the GTR R33 they are:

Rear - 275 x19

Front - 245 x19

And now, the front torque gauge is fluctuation around the middle, regardless of speed. The only time it doesn't move is when I am off the accelerator. Also when I am cruising on the freeway the car sort of surges back and forth...

What can I do?

You need the same size tyres all round... doesnt matter what size, as long as all 4 corners are the same.

I have the same size tyres on mine, and the rear ones are worn out more than the front, and on the way home down the highway it was doing that surging thing like you said. That should give you an indication of how sensitive it is.

You gotta remember that essentially, what the ATTESSA system is doing is monitoring the rotational speed of all 4 wheels. If the wheels are rotating at different speed, the computer "thinks" one (or more of the wheels) is slipping and will start transferring torque. The system is designed to cope with small variations (such as natural tyre wear, or turning a corner etc) but when you start fitting different sized wheels and/or tyres front and rear the computer get's well confused!:)

It's best to keep all 4 wheels and tyres identical. Plus the added bonus: you can rotate the tyres every so often and maximize tyre life...

Not sure, I've heard of people running tyres that wide on a R34, not sure about an R33. You might have to have the guards rolled and making sure the wheels are the right offsets is going to be essential.

275's...seriously wide-ass tyres! :)

On R33 GTR thge right fitment on 19's are 275/30/19 front and rear. Also the wheel width is 19x10 front and rear. You can lower is as low as you want and it will never scrape on the provision you have the right wheel offset. So buy wheels accordingly for a GTR not just cos its 19inch.

U could also turn the 4wd off and u'd avoid the torque fluctuation problems....

Then why bother getting a GT-R?

Only if you remove the front prop shaft (from transfer case to front diff). Pulling the fuse puts the car into limp-home mode (on 33s).

Very nice wheels :D I'd be reluctant to take 'em off and replace with originals. It might be worth trying putting the rears (with 275's ) up front and testing to see whether you're gonna have problems with it catching the fenders. If not, then you know you can go out, get another set of 275's and run that size at all four corners...

Very nice car BTW! ;)

What if your front ones are worn and rear ones are new..?

Is that mean the torque will keep staying to the rear always?

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
