who put the banning it to action?

I have a few "ahem" big ones...

might go let them off in their front yard, cause im childish and take things too far.

John Hargreaves MLA...

maybe he's getting revenge cos someone strapped one to his kitten once :)

As much as I think they are pointless and annoying, I think this is yet another sad loss for the individual and their freedoms.

Agreed.

I usually have to spend the whole weekend at home to stop Molly going skitzo... which I don't mind so much, it's only 1 weekend... but some pets are not so well looked after. I drove home on cracker night once and I passed about 4 dead dogs just on one bit of a main road that had been hit by cars... obviously escaped and bolted... Not to mention the intentional cruel things some people do.

But that said, I agree with MIVEC and others... they take away this, and what next? Eventually we won't be able to do ANYTHING.. And I'm sure modified cars would be in the list if the fun police keep taking away stuff.... which would effect us all here in a major way..

LOL can i come? I tend to take things to far as well!

FIREWORKS are great!!! If your dog doesnt like them, dont tell him not to buy em!

Sorry!

It'll all work out, in another few years wewill be electing Gen Y pollies and then watch the fun begin!!!

The silly thing is, no matter how many laws, no matter how hard you try, you cannot protect an idiot from himself>>>>>>>>>>they always build a better idiot!!!!

If its not fireworks then they will find something else, can anyone remember 'car surfing'.

Unfortunately our civil liberties have been eroding for years and we have done nothing to stop it, couple of bitches and moans and next week its all forgotten.

I think we will all be microchipped next...................at least I won't have to remember my PIN number then.

With the rate that Canberra is losing any interesting or exciting events / past times, where will we be in 20 - 30 years? - Canberra is going to end up being known not as a city but as the worlds largest retirement village.

Think about it:

We had a drag strip - Gone

We had the V8 Supercars - Gone

We had fireworks - Gone

We even lost SAU Texikhana because some old fart who lives 10kms away from the Sutton Rd complex complained about the noise of the cars!

We still have Floriade though!! :D

I am seriously considering moving to Brisbane - Sun, beaches, theme parks, race tracks...

End rant :D

Wait it took these and more to make you consider moving? You didnt think about it even when you could buy fireworks, etc??

I agree it will become a large retirement village but lets face it, act wouldnt be much without the APS.

LOL it wouldn't be anything!!!

Canberra has the greatest opportunity of all the Australian cities to be the BIGGEST event city in Australia. What is it that is stopping the pollies?, in making this truley the Party Central/Sin City. F1's, V8 Supercars, MotoGP, Drag Strip and anything/everything else. Except leave Mardi Gras in the Gay capital (Sydney).

I went to Macarthur when the Superbikes raced right here in Canberra - Unreal!! The crowds would come from Melb, Syd and further to see all these events in Canberra. It would make this cold hole an enviable rep.

If it doesnt grow it will die. God knows it's already in a coma and likely never to wake up!

whats wrong with the APS. Without the APS this country would fall appart overnight

Exactly! Who else will prop up the morning tea catering businesses?! Who will provide business for all the photocopier companies!

And my God! Think of the water cooler companies and their families!

:P

Just kidding, don't audit my tax files >_>

to be honest i welcome this,

my mates house got burnt down when he wasn't home, because one of the next door neighbors fireworks landed on the roof of his house.

secondly, it's to easy for underage people to get the hand on fireworks, i know this because i have had under age friends ask me if i want any because they get there hands on them every year.

add to that the fact that people my area of residence (were all the houses are less than 3 meters apart and all the houses are made of weather board) have let off fireworks in there back yards (some people just don't have brains)

and even though the laws used to state that the fire works could only be let of on the queens birthday long week end. people are always continuing to let them off even weeks after wards.

plus i like my sleep

^ghay^

Cept for ur friends house, that sucks...

LOL

I think they are great and bring a lot of spare coin in to ACT. I think ACT should be the only place allowed to sell them imagine the money that would bring into ACT. Gotta love free porn with your fireworks as well! I DID!!

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
