i have a r33 with exhaust, intake and intercooler mods havn't touched boost but a slight increase due to better flow, i also got a dc2vtir with a type r b18. i've gotten sum1 else to drive them with me to compare and on a straight the 33wins... though by 1 half car lenghts.. but when it comes to alot of corners the teg is alot easier to drive and pips it by more then a few lengths.. im talking bends followed by bends though.. not queensland raceway type tracks.. my 2 cents, not that it'll mean much

Being from nz Iv owned/driven quite a few quick vtec hondas (the honda scene is a lot bigger in nz) and I personally think a decent driver in either of the cars mentioned should smoke a standard gtst. I had a straight up standing start race with a mint stock R33 and beat it to 180 in a 2.2 vtec prelude with a pod filter and intake pipe no other mods. (yes the skyline driver was a decent driver and was VERY surprised, as was I lol)

wow....the dude that drove the 33 must not have known what he was doing lol, and with people like him, it makes all those honda ricer boys think that they can beat any skyline lol

I dont think people realise how ridiculously slow a stock R33 is (and i love 33s lol i got 3 of em)

stock they put 120kw to the wheels (depending on dyno) and theres plenty of hondas out there with that much power and more, and they weigh much less.

however once you start modding a skyline horsepower skyrockets and the hondas don't stand a chance :D

There is no chance of how a r33 turbo lose to a prelude, a old commordore will beat a prelude say vt onwards, 120kw? there more like the 150 mark stock at the wheels hondas like the prelude would be at the 100 at the wheels at most. i raced the latest prelude when my car was stock just pod and it pulls away literaly stright awway from the race the prelude cant even keep up at all

lol ppl don't like to hear that here...

In the end. Different cars. Type R Civics/Integras arent drag cars. They are built as a streetable track weapon. And properly dirven will Rape an R33 on the track.

Properly driven around a go-kart circuit maybe, not on any 'normal' track. Are you forgetting the FWD?

Lith, surprised you havnt mentioned mine. We discussed this exact topic last night kinda..?

I owned both, a DC2 Integra Type R, and now a 98 R33 GTS25t. And for the purpose of the topic, they were both on the same dyno, but NZ seem to have higher peak output than your Aussie dynos. So take the power as you will.

At the drags, my ITR did a 13.8 @ 100mph with semi slicks. (133fwkw) I/H/E stripped interior.

My R33 on street tires, (209rwkw), Stock airbox, stock dump, 3" front pipe back, r32 actuator and full interior 13.7 @ 101mph.

So if you bring them to the same level of modification then the Skyline will still have the edge. 60 foot times werent close, the ITR had it with no trouble. But the Skyline reels it in and still wins. Stick some semis on the Skyline, and im sure it will out launch, and kill it the whole way down.

And lets not forget our little race Lith0r.. we were more or less side by side 1st and 2nd, then your R33 started to pull away. No questions asked. Although yours didnt have the stock turbo, but a laggier version, it was still convincing once it got moving.

I know 33's arent drag cars either, but they have the power to push them in a straight line.

Tell your mate your convinced he will win. Put money on it. Profit.

Wait wait wait... So I was right... The Civic is quicker in the 1st two gears then the Skyline is...

Wow... Fancy that... The FWD POS run out of legs up top.

PS: As to comparing a Jazz to a honda "performance" car (I feel dirty using honda and performance in the same sentence with out the word *not*), you asked what I drive daily at the moment, you did not ask a list of Hondas I've been in and driven.

PPS: I don't keep a list of shit cars I've been in, so I can't clarify it perfectly for you... :P

With all due respect to the Hondas, They absolutely fly around a tight circuit like wakefield. Twisty roads they are simply brilliantly engineered cars for handling and response

only read up to page 1, but anyways i got a stock 33 just with an exhaust, took on a brand new integra type r, kept up with me to 60 then both backed off because it turned into one lane :domokun:

Who care? At the end of the day it's a CIVIC. When it corners hard it goes on three wheels and Grannies drive 'em. It's a Hatch. It's got retarded triangular mufflers, idiotic door handles, rear suspension like a tractor, and a gauge cluster like a something out of Halo.

He said more or less even in 1st and second, that doesn't mean faster - and I was running a laggier plain bearing VG30 turbo at the time due to my stock turbo blowing.

Don't agree with you there man, I happen to own both an R33 GTS25t and a 2.2VTEC Prelude (with just exhaust and intake) and I am pretty confident the Prelude would at least keep side by side with stock standard R33... I quietly suspect the Prelude would actually have the legs by a slight margain too. An R33 with the same mods however would be a different story. Power wise, I have attended a dyno day with my old Prelude with intake, extractors and exhaust which made the same or more power (141wkw) than two R32 GTSts that were attending... so a tad more than 100kw haha.

OK i get the hint.. im on my way :domokun: Lets test the theory at Marsden Airstrip.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
