Can anyone explain what options there are for an R33 coupe, in terms of remaining legal? I read the modifications guide book but am still confused which windows I can/can't tint? If I even read it correctly, that is.

um yeah get 5% if it's a show car never driven on the street ...

my 34 came with the factory privacy rear windscreen and quarters..I believe they're about 20-25% and PLENTY dark. I put 20% on the front windows and it's pretty dark... hard to see sometimes at night in badly lit streets. So I'd say no less than 20% if you wanna be able to SEE through your windows properly. If you want to keep it legal, then 35% on the fronts..

If you're in Sydney there's this greek guy who comes to you ...Zanos or something like that. He did a pretty good job on mine and he's cheap. But he's a bit messy / not shy with the water when he works which kinda pissed me off

has anyone done their tinting with tint professor or tint-a-car? i have read a couple of bad reports about tint professor, but it has some good reviews as well. so i want some help in choosing a tinter.

When I had my 33, I went to tint-a-car in Dandenong, and they did an awesome job, it was just perfect lol, can't complain. It cost me $200 for darkest legal tint.

Can anyone confirm the privacy tint on the rear window and the quarter windows is 20-25%? Because on mine, they are really dark, almost impossible to see into, but can see pretty easily when driving at night. And 20-25% tint on rear + quarters aren't legal, is it? Because legal limit is 35%?

Mastertint did mine, they were great. Lifetime warranty, scratch resistant titanium film etc. Go for darkest legal

There are some more expensive films which look darker on the outside but still maintain the legal visibility in the car

I believe this is for all cars manufacturered prior to 1994 - "Australian Auto Tinting Laws"

No window films should be fitted to a vehicle front windscreen except for a visor strip across the top.

All States and Territories in Australia Stipulate a minimum light transmission level (darkness) of 35% on all vehicle windows excluding the front windscreen. South Australia is the only state which stipulates the minimum light tranmission on the front wind up windows can be no lower than 70%

All states and Territories in Australia stipulate that window films on vehicles must not be reflective. Reflective films are even more dangerous than illegally dark windows and all Police Forces and Transport Departments are very vigilant on defecting vehicles with reflective films. Reflective films are the shiny silver and bronze films which can be "fader" films chamging from dark to reflective, solid reflective films or sometimes shapes as flames or similar. (QLD allows reflectance less than 10%)

Commercial vehicle tinting laws differ in most States and Territoties though, so check your local regulations before tinting a commercial vehicle. Typically any darkness film is allowed behind the driver in commercial vehicles. Commercial Vehicles does not mean 4WD though. It must be registered as a commercial type.

I'm fairly sure those privacy tinted windows are about 20% or a little bit lower.

If its factory standard I cant see how they can say it's illegal, as some oz delivered vehicles now days (say the subaru outback's , forresters etc etc) are all coming out with factory privacy glass on all the rear windows. & my brother who has just brought a VR4 legnum, it has privacy tinted glass on the back and it passed.

I've always been told by the fella who puts my tint on my cars this...... For the rear window's (ie. passenger rear, drivers rear + rear window) even up here in QLD we can have as dark as we like, (obviously 5% is going to stand out like dogs balls on a white car) however, the minimum like previous said for the drivers and passenger side it must be not darker than 35% - I've never been picked up for my tint (touch wood) and i've had 18% on my other cars and now 15% on my skylines, as long as you dont go drawing attention to it & your car, but I wouldnt be going any darker than 15%.

Thanks mate, but I guess Australia delivered vehicles would be different, because they were made overseas to the Australian standards. Thats why even when the R34 came with factory xenons (HIDs), they are still illegal here, and thats why compliance has to take them off.

Just had 5% tint fitted to my white r34 coupe... looks great if u ask me! can post pics if needed

yeh well I asked for darker than 35% on my rear windows and it was simple, anything darker than 35% anywhere on the car and say good bye to any window tinting warranty. this is QLD mind you.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ti...l=transmittance

5% or 15 or 18%? that is just moronic! I hope when it comes to insurance claims time the assessor sees your windows and declines your claim due to illegal modifications which affect vision....

In Queensland its 35% transmittance too...

2008 Mods guide

http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/...r_vehicles2.pdf

Just remember with front tint you can't have the tint lower than the top swing part of the arcs of your wiper blades....

-----NSW------

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/dow.../vsi03_rev3.pdf

as of 2003 guide

in NSW the tinting on front window can be no lower than 10% of the windscreen, this tint is max 25% transmittance

All other windows can be up to 35% transmittance

-----VIC------

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyre...E621/0/VSI2.pdf

In VIC all windows can be transmittance 35% except windscreen which is 30%

in the section there is goes into details of loopholes... the 70% is a safety suggestion... like not smoking....

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
