My 1st Time @ Winton Drift Experience

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, So it was my first time at winton drifting! It was so good! I also entered the track and it was unbelivable! it was the bestest experience ever. My car was running at 233kws and thrashing it the temp was at 81c with a alloy radiator! . For drifting i had a 2way diff , coilovers and a rear adjustable sway bar! but the bad thing was HICAS was activated... i hope it didnt make a diffrence.. I also spun out a couple of times onto the grass! . I went through 1 pair of tyres and also used not much petrol? . The morning was also cold but then in the afternoon it got pretty hot. I also saw 2 SAU members RED r33 drifting he was going off tap going nuts.. and i saw a White R33 with a Camera on top.(had a SAU sticker) . Anyways who else went?

Yeah mate, white R33 was me. I had a great day. Looking forward to the next oppertunity I can get out there. Only way to get better is just keep on getting as much track time as you can.

Hey guys thanks heaps for the comments!, Yeh i have experience lol, street experience, i can connect the far far away big S-bends......... but the thing is HICAS is stufffing me up! WARLORD you should come down its really good! guys should come down!

car looks nice mate, how was it first time drifting? you had any previous experiance? im really keen on going onto the track for drifting but i have NO experiance drifting.

You need to man up Bas and give it a go! I'll drive your car up there for ya!

Good stuff geraus. Looks like a good turn out up there.

Did you improve Brendan? How did ya go?

We're hoping to make the november or december one in the new car.

im gonna hold you to that russ, you can just swing past mine, and then we will cruise it there (with you driving mine obviously)

when is the next meet?

if its november/december, then my high mount setup and 2 way diff will be in 100%, if not then just the 2 way will be in lol.

thanks russ :banana::D:D:D:D

hey geraus

tets' lover hahaha

good to see you learnt from my teaching of drifting.... if it wasnt for me you wouldnt have known how to link the S bend with a slight tap of the brakes for transition lol

good to hear u had fun man

p.s. u know me from west meet (tets' mate)

The december one is probably more realistic with the sil so that would be a good time I reckon.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
