Hey,

Recently had the car nistuned. Z32 Computer etc.

Car is now running 200Kw atw safely with no ping and good afrs. Required around 14+ psi on stock turbo. Yes im aware of the risks involved. In the past with a remap it ran the same with 12psi but developed some pretty bad detonation. Too much timing apparently and this had to be retarded considerably to achieve similar output without ping (is was being tuned on a hot day too, bout 30 degrees +) But the boost required to achieve 200 ATW seemed a bit excessive considering what others have posted...This engine seems to really dislike advancing the timing...

Ill be highflowing the standard turbo very soon the question is..... running the SAME pressure (say 14 to 15psi) with a highflowed turbo as opposed to the stocker, should i be expecting any sort Kw gain?? or it simply just assuring no turbine failure?

Looking for 250Kw ultimately. and i cant see how an extra 3 or 4 psi is gonna achieve that

Who knows, could be a dead motor.

As for once you have a tune - how much power is made, purely relies on the hiflow itself, what wheel combination is chosen and so on

yes, kw gain. the highflow should be moving more air. ie. more power (with suitable tune etc etc etc)

also consider injectors. its asking a lot of the stockers at 250kw, if they get there at all.

what are the stock injectors good for usually?

Gave her a bootfull a couple of times on the way home. EBC shows peak of 14.7! dyno showed this spike, and then drop off to around 13 which it holds. Pretty much wheelspin from 5k in 1st. But 3 attempts at that and the clutch feels pretty soft...

if the timing and injection values were set correctly on other load points by a good tuner and if the car was treated to a new turbo, then chances of it blowing up is quite minimal, no need to dramatise :blink:

most tuners just focus on the map trace and ignore other cells, hence sometimes you get ridiculous knock going up a hill or down shifting.

if a tuner smooths out the ignition and injection settings for everycell on the map, then there is no need to worry for such a mild motor.

For example with the stock turbo you're only hitting rows 16, and with the aftermarket one you're hitting rows 17 on the load map, and if only rows 16 and prior were tuned, then you'll have a problem.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
