not at QR. I just can't get excited about that place at all. I've been there 5 times in the last 5 years and that's more than enough paperslip action for me.

I can see where your coming from, We will do a few at lakeside aswell.

A good day out with mates at a not so brilliant track is still better than a great day at work though!

Hence QR is alright by me!

Noise restrictions also stop the GTR coming out at lakeside. We will take the Evo though.

See you @ Lakeside then sometime!

Looking forward to doing some runs on the QR Sprint circuit again, its fun and there is a bit to it. Yeh sure a well driven big power car will be hard to beat but whats new? Sprint circuit has a few places where time can be gained, a few tricks, its just that Lakeside is so in-your-face-balls-out its easy to say pffft to QR.

Anyway I'll be doing both, can't wait :D

To each their own I guess. If a place is not fast enough so you can at least have a bit of a blast in fourth gear (3.9 diff) with a high speed corner or two thrown in then its of no interest to me, for all its faults QR qualifies in that regard. Of course Lakeside is faster and more challenging, Philip Island would be even better I imagine.

I don't rate a track by what gear I can get into or even what speed the corners are, just how interesting and challenging they are. I'm happier at Mt Cotton where you barely get out of second gear, but the corners are a real challenge!

Hey guys it would be fantastic if you lot could keep us cockroaches informed about dates and stuff. Duncan and I want to pop up there next year and have a play. Supersprints and Hillclimbs ect are what we are after. I beleive the Aussie Hillclimb champs are up there this year as well as the Aussie Supersprints. I personally would love some practice.

Cheers

Neil.

I'm pretty keen to come down there for a play at both Lakeside and Qr this year cause I haven't drivin on either. Went to power cruise at Qr once but it was lame. I need to find a week where i can have a run at both within a couple of days of each other so I can make the most of the 3600km round trip. Any sugestions......?

Marlin, you've heard how loud my car is....do you reckon it'd be ok at lakeside with the noise restrictions?

That's perfect fellas. Thanks heaps for that. I'll post on here when I'm gonna come down to see who to look out for.

^^ ditto for me

Hey Gervase,

I thought you might be doing lakeside on the 8th?

Do you think the car is too loud?

Looking forward to Qr this time around, might finally be able to pull the thing through the corners instead

of looking like im in a drift comp! the car has always had a HKS torque splitter that we hadnt used until

practise a few weeks ago, what a difference!

Hey Paul,

Look forward to seeing the 35 out again. Looked very good out there last time.

atm mine is definitely too loud though its something i want to get on top of as I'd love to do some laps around lakeside.

I have a HKS Torque controller as well, but i havent had too much of a chance to play with it. I turned it on once but didnt really like how the car felt.. maybe need to give it more time and adjust driving style to suit.

    • I hope it's actually possible. This is a write off in insurance world.
    • Yup. 2-way with shallow ramp angles. Still works.
    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
