Make out a ploice report and then make a claim so you don't have to pay your excess.

If it's not your fault you don't have to pay.

DO IT!!

Yeah iv made the police report, my insurance company required that I do this before they can process the claim. I know I didint go key my own car so its not my fault but Im not sure how id go not paying the excess. If it was the case of another driver hitting my car and they were at fault then their insurance company would pay the bill and the other driver would pay his insucance companys excess. However with this being a random event and I dont know the details of who did this "which is lucky for them" I im pretty sure its the same as me being at fault. Kind of like how you have house and contents insurance on your house and then someone burns it down you still pay the excess i think.

Not at fault claims can only be lodged if you can identify the party at fault and provide details eg: licence number, rego etc... in this situation I am pretty sure excess will still apply but hopefully you retain your rating 1 for life as per your policy. Hope you get it sorted out!

If someone breaks into your car and does damage in the prosess you don't have to pay.

I say this becasue my Camry was broken into and the window was mashed and i didn't have to pay a cent. They took my sunglasses :) .

Vandalism is somewhat different to break/enter/theft. Nismo is correct, Unless you have witnesses or can identify the offender by some means, you pay the excess. I've been there myself.

Smash your window and hide your sunglasses then LOL!! :)

Im sorry to hear that about your car :D i know how you feel but my story is worse :)

It takes from japan 2 weeks for parts and windows too come through.

Nothing will get covered with the police report you have to pay that excess out no proof they say.

Hope it gets fixed really soon, people are so low doing stuff like this makes me upset... :ninja:

Looks like ill be getting it fixed up on the Gold Coast, local panel shop up in Townsville wanted me to drop the car off next monday and wait 2 weeks as they work on it between jobs, what a joke

When i called up my insurance company to get them to hold off till I move back to the Gold Coast they siad they had been quoted around $770, I know a panel beater back on the coast so might check out what he wants

sorry to hear about your car mate. my friend's r34gtt got keyed before too.

i had an accident once, L-plater drove into my back. i was scared with the repair cuz its import and all.i went to insurer's panel place and the paint and everythin came back perfect. i think its best to go to insurer's place.

just my experience...GL with the repair.

Im sick of F***** heads that do that, my mum and dads car was keyed 3 times and my patience with people on the road are becoming thin. You try to be really nice to people on the road and then you get smart arses beeping the horn at you while trying to reverse park. A crow bar will fix the job lol

Tell me about it man, last Saturday I'm in the city - car park, going out of it late at night, its really steep and narrow so as usual taking it slow with the v going down trying not to hit the sides or scraping any part of it....a car behind me came so pulled over to the side and let them pass cause they don't care about there car or its just easier for them to pass because it was a small ford focus and when they went past me they stuck there finger up at me.... I'm trying to do something decent for them and the bastards repay in that sort of manner, world is going to hell with the manners people have these days, no decency what so ever. I park, well i try to park away from other cars so i avoid getting keyed or dinged by some inconsiderate person opening there door at 1 million miles an hour

Sorry to hear 180 Wanabe, you may be able to find someone to do a small touch up, a blend of the scratch only...

There is a guy here in Geelong that could do it, it is kinda like Airbrushing! If you could find someone it might be worth them havin a go. You could let them try and then get the whole panel done if it doesn't work!

As for the deadshits doing it, everyone gets what is coming to them.

As for the excess, unless you supply a detail, name rego etc, I think you will have to pay it!

As for the driving skills, incompetance and morons are everywhere... just ensure you are considerate and hopefully others will follow. Doesn't take a second to be aware of your surroundings and to be a bit patient.

However, I can never cope with someone who is oblivious to anyone else on the road for what seems like an eternity!

Some people drive cars without mirrors and horse blinkers on! No one owns the road and we need to be aware that there is a left lane and someone might just want to go past.

Also, moving over when travelling down a 2 lane road and let someone into traffic is a good start and it also gives you more room if they just pull out! Works in reverse too, the left lane is to be used at all times, but if you can move out to the right to let me in, I will always thank you!

Sorry for the rant, but as a Motorcyclist some of this simple stuff can save your life!

Back on topic... sorry!

    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
    • Mine is all -12, I’m running a dry sump in a billet block though
