Ok - I need some advice.

I have recieved a parking infringement fine from the Melbourne Airport for "Stopping in a Bus Zone".

Now the story is this - I was meeting some people that came down from Adelaide. There was 2 cars that were picking these people up. My wife went into the short term car park and I drove up to the front of the airport to tell the people we were picking up where in the short term car park we would meet them.

The place they were waiting was infront of a bus stop. All I did was stop - talking to them and give instructions as to where we would meet them and then drove around to the short term car park next to where my wife was. I was stopped in the bus zone for about 20 seconds - I never got out of the car and at no stage was a bus coming! I saw about 20 meters away a guy with a cb give my plate details to someone over the cb but thought nothing of it.

I have now recieved in the mail a fine for $66 for stopping in a bus zone and I feel thats utter bull-shit! I really want to fight it but does anyone know:

a) My chances of winning

B) How much extra it will cost if I lose

Cheers

Having been to so many airports this year, realisticly u aint meant to stop at those spots infront of the airport, even the spot where u pickup people u have to stop pick people up and leave ASAP, otherwise usually some guy will come up to you and ask you to move.

It suxs they actually sent you a ticket without coming over to and telling you to move, were u in the GTR??

If you were to fight it i dont think you would have a chance of winning coz u aint meant to stop at a airport bus zone even for 1 second (unless you are a bus) and thats what they will say in court.

I was in the NSX - I was picking up the guy that bought it. The only reason the guy didnt come to tell me to move is that I was gone before he could get to me - I was only there 20 secs!. I think 99% of the reason I got the fine was because of the car I was in.

So even though its stupid I can't win!?

yes those pricks would have been jelious so they would of booked you.

With all the terroist shit going on now, u have maybe a 2% chance of winning anything to do with an airport situation.

Just last week at cairns airport i went to pickup someone flying in from overseas and i stopped for about 10 seconds in the pickup area but didnt get out and was told to move or i would get a ticket, so i had to circle the airport till i saw the guy outside.

Snowman - Very sorry to hear. That's sounds really harsh.

They are absolute vultures - I got one last week after stopping outside a bike shop (with bike on the roof), put my hazard lights on, and went in to ask if I could leave the bike. Was away from the car about 2mins - return to see a ticket!

Worse still - I've gotten 2 while parked in my driveway! Said I was too far down and blocking the footpath thus stoping disabled access. I live at the end of a dead-end, and there isn't a footpath - there's a driveway. My driveway. The footpath on the rest of the street has trees planted in the middle so you can't walk up it (lest drive a wheelchair) anyway! Plus - both tickets were at 1.00am - only Cojack would be wheelin' around dark streets at that sort of time. And he's dead.

I got the second one, while fighting the first! The car has to be parked down a bit for the garage door to swing up and open.

Got to the point of having to go to court, of paying up - don't know any lawyers... so I paid. B*stards.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, but you could have just as easily parked in the short term park, walked over to the terminal, found the person and walked back with them.

I would guess that's something like the argument they'll present if it ever got further than just a ticket.

for $66 bucks or whatever i would just pay it and get it off your mind...cost me $60 or something to fill up my fuel tank...its money but it's not such a big amount as compaired to other fines u can get. I"m actually trying to get out of one atm which i am not at fault. BUt its taking ages. Cheers Rob

You can write a letter within 28 days and try and get out of it.

I have had about 10 parking fines, and got out of 9, and the 1 i didnt get out of was the only 1 i didnt deserve.

Make up some shit about your car stalling etc, and you were only there for 15 seconds while you stuffed around with your immobilsor and re started.

You might be lucky :P

Its not the money its the principle. But if I take it to court and lose (the only place I can challenge this is in court) then the money might become an issue. So Im really not happy that the general feeling is that I will lose. How much extra is it if I challenge and lose does anyone know?

If you respond within the 28 days [in writing] this delay does NOT increase the fine even though it goes past the due date.

In other words the whilst you are challenging a ticket / offence the price freezes.

I know somebody [VERY well] who has gotten out of multiple [talking 15+] parking / traffic infringements. Make up a story and send the letter off before expiry date.

FYI: the people who read these letters LOVE to hear a good story or one that makes them laugh and 9 times out of 10 this will get them off the fine!

Can't give any other info publicly :D

I can exchange a well written letter for a ride in the GTR if ya like

Or you could do it yourself?

    • Please use a modern ECU. PowerFC with the Nintendo Gameboy controller is horrible. It's not 2005 anymore.
    • The car/ECU will have all the sensor that it needs and expect to have. I think i do not have to explain to you how the Link is way better specialy if you have swapped engine   I just do not want to deal with any "problems" cuz i have only Nistune which i learned is not that great and in my case cant even deal with that speed problem (Link can) And of course it will be way more easier to tune and diagnose and safe. And for the ECU/speed problem...i dont know.
    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
