So car progress has been pretty much stalled. Just been waiting on a few companies to get their work finished so i can progress further on the new build. This arrived today

20141118_084001_zpsaqsa0jjr.jpg

After wanting one of these for about 12 months.I finally bit the bullet and bought one. The biggest hurdle from the start for me was the fact that i had a Vipec ECU so i needed the EFI interface converter so it was compatible. I ended up finding it on special in the US and saved around $300 compared to buying it locally.

Here is a few more pictures of it

I think I like the carbon box more than the dash lol

New spoiler brackets were finally finished. Ended up getting extended brackets/stands along with new end blades. Still need a bit of modification. The stand design I'm not overall happy with. Also the end blades need new holes drill into them to change the angle they sit at.

As you can see by the angle of the old bracket, once on the car the ends will not be parallel to the ground and will be pointing down. Below is a picture of where i think they should probably sit. Next job is to get them painted and new holes drilled and then it should start to look a lot better.

Here is the angle as it sits on the stands

Here is how i want it to sit of the stands

Also got bored so i tried to replicate my car in Forza 5, but only had the GTR shape to go off.

Not too much happening still here. Ended up sourcing a clutch off a fellow SAU member. DCS twin plate, hardly had much use at all.

Motor is almost back together. Good new is I've sold the motor so that parts out the way. Time to play the waiting game for my new motor to be ready

Been a few things going on here and there with this car at the moment. A while back i bought a big GT wing for the lulz and started to look at getting it fitted with a new boot lid etc. Here how its turned out. The stand design themselves have really turned me off the whole thing and now Im not sure if Im going to run this or not.

I may like it if.when I get other stands made that are a fair bit higher than this and a bit smoother in design. I also got around to getting different end blades made up and painted them plus stands black to hopefully make it look a bit better. Whilst it looks better I still hate the stands.

I also picked up a one piece tail shaft and a Nismo 2 way. Sorry for the horrid pictures. I must have been blind drunk off too many 440 Woodstock cans lol

I also picked up the cars new motor on Monday, Was originally buying a mint 25/30 motor that was making 680rwhp on 29psi, however when the previous owner pulled it out and down he noticed some bearing shavings in the sump and so on and so forth. Long story short, I still bought it as a realigned price as there was still plenty of goodies on there that were is perfect working order and worth the change. Worst case I'll do a full rebuild on the bottom end. Here a brief run down of the motor. I bought it minus both hot and cold sides.

Engine.
RB 25/30. built by Dan of ERD fame. blueprinted balanced et.
ARP everything
Argo rods
Mahl full slipper race
pistons
ACL race series bearings
RSR extended gated and baffled sump
Jun oil pump
Supertech solid lifter conversion with o/s valves and titanium retainers
tomei solid cams 10.25 lift, staggered duration.
port and flow mods by john white engines
ATI harmonic balancer
Kulig crank and cam triggers

Here is a picture of it coming out of the old car

Now it in pieces

Here is a close up of the pistons. Question remains and i will ask PLR the same. Are these savable with a bit of TLC?

Also picked up a Mercury external coil setup too. Came off an RB previously and should be good for 1000hp, more than ample for my setup

20141215_164010_zps0laegsra.jpg

Also picked up a new puppy about 10 days ago. Meet Linus the Blue Cattle Dog, Linus has already been on many car part runs and apparently loves Coronas as much as I do

Them pistons. I would not put back on Scottie.

Reasons are as follows:

1. they've had a hard life already

2. don't rebuild an engine knowing them pistons could result in having to rebuild again

3. just get new pistons

I'll leave it up to the engine builder to decide. They will come up alright after a clean and a bit of work. Worst case I'll order new ones and sell these for next to nothing

Also nice puppy

He goes alright

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
