So one of my best mates recently had a baby boy. I offered to baby sit over the weekend so my mate and his missus could have some time off and relax and get some sleep.

The following are some pics of the training I started on the boy.

laik every bloody supermarket....

srsly dude, dont bother with that coles and woolworths bullshit, too many ass phucks, only top be rejected.

go into an independent (foodland) and ask for a form, better yet

ask to see the store manager, (these guys love confidence), and ask him

to his face.

9X out of 10 your app. form will be whacked in a folder, and never thought of.

most hiring is done by word of mouth.

try norwood, nightfill.

now, i need app. form for sau sa, need cams licence

linky please.

Mitch,

Work out where you want to work, tailor your resume for the place, do some research on the business, find out who does the hiring and ask to meet them for a coffee. Present yourself neatly, be on time, be concise with your presentation and leave the person your resume.

All this is being proactive rather than reactive. Think about it: if you are a business owner and have a role that needs to be filled what are you going to do? Most will already have someone in mind and ask them first. They will then ask other staff members and maybe others within their industry (clients, partners etc). Finally if they still haven't found someone they might get around to advertising the position. Then they have to pay for the advertising, conduct interviews or pay an agency to do so. Either way it costs them time and money.

Waiting for jobs to be advertised means you are only seeing the jobs which have already gone past several stages. And then you are competing against everyone else. You can jump ahead of all these other people by getting in at stage 1. It may not work immediately but a position may come up at a later date and the person doing the hiring will recall that you showed initiative, were proactive by seeking him/her out and gave them your details. The person can then contact you and shortcut the procedure to find a new employee thus saving them time and money.

I would also advise that you keep a record of who you spoke with, when you spoke with them, what they ordered and what was said in the conversation. Touch base with them about once a month with a phone call and try catch up with them about once every 3 months (that's where knowing what they ordered can be handy. Imagine their surprise if you go up order your drink and turn to them and say 'hazelnut mocha with 1 sugar right?). You would be surprised at how this can generate results and in the end you are only approaching businesses that you want to work for.

Good luck.

Dyno Run

Nige, better still be doin that on the cruise. i will get 2 bits of reo rod and a bag of marshmallows and hang the f**kers out the boot LOL

Why not try something in the Automotive Industry?

When I was unemployed not that long ago, i went through a small period where i wanted nothing more than to wake up and sit in front of the tv and play Gran Turismo 4. I then got inspired by playing it, and with a small sales background, why not become a Car Salesman. Applied for a few places, got an interview with BS Stillwell Ford on Main North Road and Aftermarket Sales at Peugeot. Nothing eventuated, but then got a call from my uncle, wondering if i could lend a hand with a boat down the Marina. After a week of that, he was prepared to offer me an apprenticeship as a Diesel Mechanic.

Even if you have checkout experience..that's sales.

Throw caution to the wind. Do whatever you think you will like. The worst they can say is no.

    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
