do you have a rough idea when Kye?

ill let you know ruffly in a week or 2 but a few months away as i think i have to go to singapore for training and perth tomorrow for training so finish that and ill arrange something

We have talked about an SAU:SA drift day, but there are only 6 or so drifters on SAU, so around 20 people short for a private day. But apart from that, nearly all of them won't even pony up the whole $30 per annum to support the club, so it is pretty much off the table of events ....

lol sorry, im already a member of another club to get my cams before sau sa got going and i think chad is too

only reason why i dont

EDIT: plus i paid more then $30 haha so sau sa would have been the go before hand. get drift events going and ill join when my membership runs out from the other club

Mallala is $4,500 for the day from memory - so if you had 10 people, are you going to come up with $450 each? Maybe not :D

Sounds like the Tailem Bend track is the new go, and there are plenty of track days already being organised down there .... bloody long tow home when you break something though!

And in funny news :)

no worries dude, the drift calender is fairly busy for august so sep oct would be good :)

yeah i dont think it would be before then man.

i know theres a few track days being done now with the new track but the chances of me being back during those days are slim so ill just be arranging my own private days, but the more track days the better :)

and yeah i think its 12 people for drift

im looking for a new home for my 7month old kelpie x blue heeler pup, called gracie

im working 2 jobs atm and i really dont have the time for her,.

if you would like to take her please pm me on here or sms on 0435 844 457

I agree with most of those rules, however it says

"Nominated High Performance Vehicles" which >could< be abused by the authorities if they don't bring out a set of guidelines to determine what is and is not a high performance vehicle..."

Interesting to note, a 1.3lt mini with a supercharger will be prohibited even tho it has a very low power output...

Aside from that, I'm all for youngsters getting banned from high performance vehicles on the road - I hope that it encourages younger petrolheads to get on the track and go nuts there while developing some skills

i know a bunch of you are under 25 and are responsible, hardcore enthusiasts but its one of those cases where the dickheads have screwed up so often that the inevitable conclusion is more police scrutiny and higher insurance premiums - which nobody wants...

i guarantee these "special exemptions" that will be issued wont be a walk in the park to get, and there'll be a flag like anything on them.

i do agree with dohmar's point, but its true, the majority have ruined it for the minority

another interesting note, turbo diesels are not part of the exemption, except one

VW golf TDI

I think it'd be relatively easy for anyone under 25 with a so called 'performance vehicle' to get an exemption based upon the fact they've already purchased the vehicle before the legislation was approved or publicised - I doubt they'll be forcing people to sell their cars just to qualify for a new law (ie i doubt the law will be retroactively enforced). Just hope the majority of you sensible people out there get your P1/2's before the nominated date, otherwise the next couple of years are going to be a pain in the arse..

Ahhh ... one of the few times it's good to be old .. cheaper insurance & can have a chuckle at the youngsters still on their L's n P's (and the laws the governments introduce every coupla years making it more and more difficult for them ...)

I lost my f**king license, so when I f**king get my f**king license back, does that mean I'll not be aloud to drive my f**king Sil80 on the f**king street because I would have gotten then back way after September even though I've been driving turbo cars since I was f**king 16?

how old are u?

I think you'd be able to find some caveat somewhere

unless you've lost ur licence for the 2nd time...

Edit - for comparison, I'm on $1450 premium with $1k excess, age 31, rating 1, stock(ish) gtr valued at $30k

I'm 32, and paying Shannons about $1350 for my R34 GTT ($500 excess) with an agreed value of $27K. I've listed the relatively mods for my car (exhaust, braided brake lines, suspension, GTR MFD, stereo), though it didn't seem to increase premiums much.

.. I would imagine the new SA system - like other states - is going to have cavaets around the exemptions for people who already own cars before the rules came into place. For the most authoritative answer, give Transport SA a call - they'll know for sure.

i swear a whole lot, and even i rolled my eyes at that.

chill pill.

there will undoubtedly be a condition where if you owned the car before the laws came into effect, youll be exempt.

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
