This is a pretty sensitive topic so I cant say much, but basically my recommendation is if you dont know what your doing dont get one. Me an my cousin have both been using RD's for awhile now, first time using one in a place sooooo illegal, there are products I DO recommend but for 140 your not going to get ANYTHING good especially since they will be detected by the cops and you'll get raped.

I like your input mate...

hahaha. Enough said.

they can pretty much ransack your car if they think you have one cant they?

Yep, as far as I know.

My off the record advice...if you buy one be willing to lose it. You might want to practice buying a couple and smashing them on the ground because that's what you'll have to do in 2 seconds if you ever see a cop give chase after detecting it.

I used to have one of these...the real deal ones cost a few hundred and you need to buy them from America. These will beep at service station automatic doors while you drive along the highway, and scream bloody murder if someone has a radar lock on you. Plenty of cops locked radar on me and they never detected my unit. But I kept it underneath a towel on the dash (cause you're just a f**kin idiot if you go showing it off like a G-tech), nearby and ready to throw out the window if I saw a cop get in his car or pull out on me. As illegal as they are, I don't believe they should be...they do the job that the cops should be doing, i.e. deterring speed instead of extracting revenue from it. If they put fake radars everywhere these people wouldn't speed...but the government wouldn't get cash :(

Can cops detect your car with a Radar Detector in it?

DO they have a detector to detect the detector..?

LOL!

As funny as this is, yes :(

And believe it or not people have come up with detectors to reveal their radar detector detectors. It stretches that far. As long as there is an infrared beam going out it can be detected!

Reminds me of that movie "The Big Hit". The trace buster buster buster!

Heck yes the do I'm pretty sure not all coppers are fitted with them but RDD's do exsist if you really want to 1-up them you can get a Radar Detector Detector Detector (RDDD) which will detect them trying to detect you.... I know it's confusing but there is a whole world of Radar Detection if your really intrested i recommended www.radardetector.net

They have probably all the info you need but with top of the line products (which you should be able to find with a couple Google clicks) you shouldnt have to worry about detection, also FYI if you do end up searching and comparing products Beltronics IS Escort, escort acquired them in 2000 they are known as Belscort by enthusiasts

The only radar/laser detector which is tested as undetectable by "radar detector detectors" used by police is the Beltronics STi / STi XR. I used to have one, but got over it and sold it. Top unit. The valentine one sometimes has more range and a cool directional "bogie" counter system, but it's detectable by RDD's.

last i heard they have detector detectors, and if they think you have one in your car GL.

Yeah, interesting points there fellas.

Ah well, stick to the speed limit and you'd be fine

I have been searching this alot and I can't tell you the actual penalty as it's a summons to court offence so it's up to the Magistrate as to what penalty you will get. I have found that it's offence to possess, use, sell or own a device under Road Safety Act 127/1986 Section 74 (1).

Hope this helps and obviously they can be detected and vehicle searched for same and if located should be seized for court and eventually disposed of.

Their demonstrated inability to discriminate reality from hallucination should be enough to make them totally untrusted. LLMs don't know anything and cannot think to even the smallest extent. They are just predictors of the next word, and that should never be confused with capability.
    • I think, given the usage model described in the OP, I'd never ever experience the wonders of the 400kW upgrade. What I really need is boost from 2000rpm and probably no more than 260-270rwkW. But I suspect that the highflow is not actually the turbo for that purpose, so I may in fact need to get a G25 or 30 or something right sized and very spooly. We shall see after it is tuned. I've had to back the boost and boost ramp off to stop the thing from pinging since the highflow went on, so I've been almost living the NA life for 9 months now! Injectors are recently in hand. AFM is in hand. Dyno is fixed. Just need to clear a queue of f**king Supras out of the way (and probably fit my new gearbox). So....some time this year? Lol.
    • For what I gather is a Sunday/summer car....braided is fine. You're not going to be left without a vehicle and you have plenty of time for inspection/maintenance. Oof. I wouldn't use them that way. They can probably handle the temperature** but the internal corrugations means that their flow characteristics are a bit shit. Lots of extra friction and pressure loss. Makes them flow like the next pipe size down. ** They are stainless, and the stainless can usually be at least something like 304L, which is pretty good at higher temperatures (unlike 316L, which I would use for a wrt/corrosive environment, but not a particularly hot environment). But the welding needs to be top notch. And even then, because you usually need at least one cone-seat end on them (because you can twist the hose and do up both ends at the same time unless one of them is a union) they can be prone to coming loose with heat cycles.
    • I don't have the OEM oil feed lines though and the turbo-wraparound line is torn, only has water. My plan is to get replacements for these and just connect a braided line to there. And make sure it's leak free. Hoses like these are also sometimes used to connect external wastegates, so for an EGR I think you're good using them.
    • Alright I understand. The most likely case is probably gonna be that I just keep the OEM unit in the car as long as it works.
