Hey guys, my friend just bought a series 1 33gtst, and on the dash, left side of the steering wheel, there's 2 buttons,,one says spoiler up and the other is spoiler down.

Now the car just has the normal S1 spoiler on it, we tried pressing the buttons and having a look over the car but it seems to do nothing. the buttons themselves look pretty standard (like they came stock with the car).

just wanna kno if any of u guys have or hav ever seen this.. i couldnt get a pic of it today, but will as soon as i see my friend.

the car was imported by the previous owner and he had no idea wat the buttons did.

wat u guys think?

chrrz

Ben

yeh strange, my mates 32 gtst has it too!

maybe jdm optional extra from the dealership?

yeah it is strange,,it doesnt seem to do anything at all though :D ..

we thought it could be somethin around the front bumper,,but nah, nothing there..

yeh, wud b an extra, but isnt doin anythin atm

Nissan did it factory in my R32 GTST. I checked on FAST and its definately meant to be there. All i have left is the buttons. The spoiler and actuators are sitting in my shed... probably about 25kg worth! :(

I have seen something similar in an old mate's car - (s1 33 gtst auto). It adjusted something at the front of the car, under/behind the front bar. I too mentioned "wtf?" at the time.

But it definitely used to adjust, you could hear the little motor going off - similar to the sound of your mirrors folding in and out.

I should have got a pic on the weekend but my friend said he'd send me one, so just waiting on that..its basically on the right of the aircon unit, jus 2 buttons one above the other.

yeah the head unit is an upgraded one and the arial works fine.

hey Psymon, so your car came with an adjustable spoiler? whars it look like?

pretty sure its for the spoiler under the front bar. look under the front bar and get your mate to hit the switches. should see a flap aKa spolier move up or down

Ah yeah, coz the car's got an m spec body kit, its a 1.5. but the front bumper looks like the old series 1. we were just thinkin of putting a lip on it to make it look better..maybe it already has one.. we'll hav a look wen i see him

Yeah just a metal lip behind/under the front bumber basically that would move up and down when the buttons were hit.

From what i gather they usually get removed because they're quite heavy and the actuators break and cost a lot to replace. I've never actually seen a working one!

yeah my HR31 owning mates had them on their Passage and GTS-X respectively, the problem with em is that you can't really fit a front mount cooler around them at all, and yeah the motors are fairly heavy. They look cool though :P It pisses me off that the model earlier has stuff like rain sensing wipers, auto headlights and auto spoiler, but my R32 has none :P. From what I've read they were an option across the R32 range, though I've never actually see one. Dunno about R33, but maybe so.

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
