Hi fellas,

I've had a GTR front bar on my R33 for almost 2 years now. Although I really like it. I have a widebody kit on my R33 now so want to change it look of my R33 a bit.

I will keep the GTR side skirts, rear pods and wing but just want to change the front bar - so please help me decide.

At the moment, here are my top 4 preferences:

1. TopSecret style front bar.

2. Nismo 400R v1 or v2 style front bar.

3. Do-Luck style front bar.

4. Trial style front bar.

5. Jun style front bar.

I'm currently leaning towards either the Top-Secret front bar or the Nismo 400R style ones but I don't know if replicas look nice as I've never really seen any nice replicas. Does anyone have a picture of any of the above front bars on their cars?

I'm wanting to put my car through a full respray with a new front bar on in the next few weeks and would appreciate as much feedback from you guys as possible.

Thanks.

SM

Never been a fan of the 400r. Just looks too flimsy and weak everytime i've seen it not to mention the excessive holes all over it. Top secret i vote although i really really like the look of the do luck..

I have a TopSecret one in the garage ready to go on :)

I think they are horn.

Yeah, I too am leaning towards the Topsecret one... are you going full Topsecret, e.g. sideskirts and rear pods etc or just the front bar with Mspec sideskirts or GTR ones?

Got any pictures?

PS: most of you are right...the 400R look a bit flimsy ...don't know why this is but you're right...

ive got a trust one (trial) theyre nice but only downside is the lower vent section, the section below that cracks easily. if getting a fibreglass one, get it reinforced with a few extra layers put on top (well its actually underneath)

GTR is the bizz.... think i might get a genuine one next time....

Thanks fellas...I went and did some inquiries today...

The original 400R front bars from Nismo cost over $2K each plus freight whereas Fiberglass copies just don't cut it...

The Topsecret front bar still maintains the signature R33 GTR look whilst making it a bit more stylish. Anyone here have some pictures of a Topsecret front bar on their ride that they would like to share?

Thanks all...

I think I'm leaning 80% towards the TS one now...however, like JJJSD said, the GTR one does look nice but am quite over it now.

You said you have standard M-spec side skirts? I'm a bit worried they wont match the front bar. My mate has a 400R with standard skirts, and it looks strange. The others would look even worse! Just a suggestion.

Hey mate, I got fully GTR kit at the moment.

I gotta say, the Topsecret full hit doesn't look that nice. I just like the front bar.

Oh well.

Top Secret front bar and side skirts with Nismo rear bar and pods.

    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
