Howdy,

I have an RB25DE NEO for my R31. I noticed the sump has been damaged.

What options do I have?

I read somewhere that all RB20, Rb25, RB26 and RB30 sumps should fit. Is this true ?

Is there differences in the various models? Im guessing the later models have better technologies, oil pickups, baffles etc.

I guess the best stock setup would be GTR sump with the front diff etc blocked off.

Unfortunatley I don't have heaps of cash laying around for an aftermarket one.

Thanks in advance

Brendan

Wouldnt bother with a gtr sump, like you said theres a diff you dont need and they arent the best design to start with (hence why theres trust extensions etc)

Any rb25 sump will do the trick, the r33 rb25 engines are a dime a dozen so it should be easy to pick one up for cheap.

Thanks for that.

Anyone know if an RB30 sump gasket is ok to use?

And whats the procedure to change it: I guess clean it, then put on the gasket with gasket sealant or just bare gasket by itself? One of my co-workers said to put a film of grease on the gasket but I don't know about that idea.

I have no idea about the rb30 sump fitting or not.

In terms of changing the gasket:

Use clean rag with some de-greaser/cleaner to clean around the area where gasket sits.

Put film of engine oil on the gasket (both sides) and bolt up the sump. Make sure you torque it to factory specs or elese you could buckle/distort the gasket if you over tighten.

Hope that helps.

I always sikaflex my sumps on. Clean the block and sump with metho/thinners, nice big bead of sikaflex and bolt up.

So you don't use a gasket? Sounds good if you don't need one.

I already have an RB30 gasket so I might as well use it.

Message me if you have a spare sump.

The 4wd sump will not line up with the bottom end on any rear wheel block. (totally different shape)

So your going to have to buy a sump off a rear wheel anywaysss.

I guess the best bet for fitting a gasket is use manufacturers instructions.

The ACL one I have for an RB30 says to clean both surfaces then put the gasket on, oil the bolt threads and under the bolt head.

Then tighten to car manufacturers specs.

    • Yes the gear for the R33/34 is different, it is red and has a different number of teeth. My part didn't come with that gear though, so I don't know how many teeth are on the red one. You'd have to reuse the 260RS/R33 gear, as long as it's not destroyed.   Haha, as unfortunate as that might be it was working fine for about the first 1500km I've had the car for now.
    • Update all   thanks to the workshop manual, it lead me back to checking fuses as mentioned central locking and door open lights worked when acc was switched on. diagram attached shows two points of power 1. ACC and 2.  Batt with the later being fused (#28) I did check the fuses using a multimeter but I must have stuffed that up also. Went back and checked the batt fuse in interior fuse box and you wouldn’t believe it… a blown fuse. replaced fuse and everything is now working as it should including the climate control   thank you all with your positive insight and knowledge.

    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.
