Cops are definitely out in force lately. Got stalked by a divvy van on saturday night on the way home. Tailed me, checked my details in their car then turned around and sped off. Might be best for anyone with an exceptionally attention drawing vehicle to drive it at a minimum until after xmas/new years. At nights at least anyway.

To cast some lures... and to finally get a bite from something thats not from a farm.

You know in the 4 years I went to Swinburne I never once visited that damn lake. Drove past it every weekday and could see it from the Uni but never stopped past :D

Well, some bloke caught a 45cm trout there, and i missed a fish, so nothing much to shout home about. But its a really nice chill place. Good to visit when stressed or nothing better to do.

Does anyone know how these "new" speed detectors pinpoint which car is actually speeding when the cop is driving too?

If it's being used in a busy area like Knox and there's a bunch of cars driving, how can they be sure which one the radar picked up?

Just saw the ad on TV, and it sounds like that device is only when the cop is stationary and can point the sniper-like crosshairs at a single vehicle out of a mass of cars (rather than the usual shotgun approach using the old radar guns, which were unreliable in a mass of cars).

Granted he did make a nice point about me being "not from around here", so he might've treated a local such as yourself with a bit more discretion lol.

You boys ain't from 'round these parts, are ya? Love it

got defected a week back in Ivanhoe .for car being too low.then the coper poped the bonnet hehe.

1:Boost Control

2:POD

3:FMIC

well the best part was didnt get no fine, not even a road worthy just had to take the pod and the

boost controller out and take it to vicroads, thank god i got coilovers so its gona stay stock till next year i guess

and it looks like a 4 wheel drive now :P my fist fits between the tyre and the guard.

My station is pretty serious about this operation as we have treffic cars running all next week and I am on some operation Road BLock on Next weekend. Must be Booze Buses and more, I surely will be tasked to give out lots of NOU's, EPA and fines because end of the day its a stats game.

dammmmmmmmmm spewing :ninja: , when you get an EPA what do you have to do? put everything back to stock :ninja: ?

Not necessarily stock, but roadworthy condition. For example, the exhaust can be aftermarket as long as it is below the maximum DB.

Whats an NOU?

I know you may not want to tell eveyone but what area do you work in, as in country vic or N E W or S subrbs, i dont mean what station, will understand if you dont want that information known.

NOU is Notice of Unroadworthy better known as Canary. I work in Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

Thanks, i live in SE but the skyline is off the road now anyway, wont be back on for over 12 months.

Also how strict are you when you pull over some one driving on an unreg permit, got one at the moment on my daily whilst i get it reg'd but since i do arvo shift a few times i have taken it to get stuff done before work and then driven it to work, problem is i dont finish till around midnight and i know that you are only allowed to drive it between 7am and 7pm.

I got done with an unreg permit.

I had booked in to the mechanics to drop it in during my lunch break at work and arranged my workmate to come with me and take me back to work after I dropped it in.

But in the morning on my way to work I got pulled over and they didn't want to hear a word of my explanation.

Missing work in the morning was not an option because it was a critical period in our schedule.

Had to cop the $567 unregistered vehicle fine on the chin.

    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
    • Oh, you are right. But, in Australia E10 is based on 91RON fuel and ends up being 94RON. Hence it being the cheaper option for economy cars. The more performance oriented cars go for the 98RON fuel that has no ethanol mixed in. The only step up we have left then at some petrol stations is E85.
    • There is a warning that "this thread is super old" but they ignore that anyway...
    • With 10% Ethanol, we're talking 2-3% fuel consumption difference. The emissions reductions and octane boost in my opinion far outweigh this almost non existent loss.    My tanks sitting at 80%. Luckily that should go down fast as I'm on vacation again for the next two weeks.
