2010 Is going to be a slower year for me. I'm rebuilding the yellow beast with a complete new driveline and suspension setup. That is going to take as long as it does to fund it. I have just started to transfer all the suspension over to a spare shell and as the motor, box & diff come back from various reconditioners, they will go in as well. Hoping to have it on the road (registed) by the end of January. I plan to sell it some where along the line to help fund the yellow 1.

There is also a NASR20 Sill80 in the shed nearing completion which could be ready for rego by Xmass. You just never know what I'm going to turnup in. This too will be for sale at some point to help fund the silly yellow skyline.

I will try and run any of them at all the street sprints on KU36's, Morganpark sprint series and the Noosa hillclimb events as well. I want to get down to Lakeside and even down to Wakefield (the Nissan Datsun nats are there easter 2011 i think) if the budget allows.

I have the entry forms for Gatton which I can email out if anyone would like a copy, not sure how to post them up here.

Win Superlap or t-bone some homo GTRs trying and hit another two new OS tracks next year. Be handy if i finally get my car back on the track and beat some of my Vic track times too. Pretty simple realy, as much motorsport as the calender will let me fit in, whch has not been a lot lately

I'm not into street sprints, so I won't be doing them. Too mickey mouse for my liking. Low speed "tracks" 90 degree turns and chicanes don't do much for me. I'll just do the Hillclimb series and probably a couple of other things here and there. I think the Aus Supersprint Championship that's goign to be at Morgan Park sometime next year too.

Just an observation and not everyone will every aggree what is best, however, it is funny you call street sprints slow. Addmittedly Wheels on wide bay is a slower and funny little mickey mouse track that doesn't realy offer much for drivers. Gatton, 1km 36.6sec, theres a bench-mark for a rwd car and not slow. At the Oakey track I was hitting 160+kph and carying about 140 through the chicanes it was a real challenge to post realy quick times. How do hillclimbs compare? (I'm thinking of Mt Cotton, Grafton and Noosa) Personaly I find them pretty similar to drive and definetly not as fast. The fellowship and atmosphear at both are similar. I think street sprints have an upperhand as the atmosphear is more relaxed and verymuch social events.

1 event I did last year that was a definte standout for fun and challenge was the short circut racing at Stanthorpe. L2S lic is all you needed and ROP along with the usual safety requirements for sprint or hill events. was only about $150 FOR 2 DAYS AND 4 min RACES EACH DAY!!!!!

fair enough. There's obviously a great many people who love the street sprints - they're very well attended and entries normally fill before the closing date, but they're just not my cup of tea. I'll admit I was picturing Leyburn writing that, which is probably unfair to the rest of them, but its momentary top speed is similar. And yes, Mt Cotton is also a slow tight track and slower than Gatton, but probably only because of the hills. If you flattened it out it would be alot closer to 36 sec. Artificial chicanes are a pet hate of mine however challenging they may be. So a hillclimb that is slow because of the nature of the track, rather than artifical chicanes comes out ahead according to my predjudices lol

I won't be circuit racing the road car, but will probably go back to Carnell as well. Its a great fun track, despite being slow! lol I reserve the right to contradict my previous post! I guess its mainly the flat 90degree corners and chicanes I don't like...

It looks like the Zed's engine bug has been fixed after a disappointing 2009 so I'm just looking forward to doing QR and Lakeside sprints. Anyway car goes back on the dyno soon, if all is well we will stick some more boost into it, try to get into the 400's horsepower wise.

Go through the Lakeside kink at 200 plus would be, errrr, 'nice'. ;)

2009 was a good year! Finally getting my car together and out on the track for the first time!

Hopefully in 2010 I can continue to get the car out to as many track days as possible and maybe even give PI a go by the end of the year!

Can't wait!

2010 - Put the engine back together, swap engines, get more lock, get my half cage in, sort out the intake side of the engine, get it over to the pannel beaters, get a seat - yes, not huge plans but as a uni student, living away from home i dont have much money to throw around.

I think pretty much by the end of this year, id like to see it where I have always invisioned it to be for so many years. Its getting close, but still a way away.

Id like to get to as many drift events around NSW/Vic/QLD. Id like to start some grass roots drift comps

Been looking at doing a hillclimb in bathurst too. Perhaps go back to wakie, have another crack there

I am sitting here twidling my fingers hatching a plan for 2010, if it comes off it shoudl be a good year for doing more OS tracks. Otherwise it looks like my thing is ready for the track again, only i am too scared to put a stone chip in the new paint ;)

I was looking on Boxing Day, i can buy you 6 +32 wheels, but will keep looking for the single +34 ;) Also, park the 32 Terror for 6 months and come to Belgium with me. How does Spa, Zolder, Zandvoort finished off with punching some Burger Ring back in Germany. The timing is right, problem is getting a car for Zolder :) There are other tracks like Magny Cours but problem is i am waiting for them to update their websites. I am thinking i may even export my lil 32 over if i can get all the transport done and temp rego for less then 5k.

How 'bout I meet up with you for a couple of weeks and we punch as many tracks as we can in that period? Unfortunately my business doesn't allow me the six months of leasure time! :)

I may be forced to buy six if I can't get just one in time! ;)

Like to attend my first track day. Most likely a winton fun day. Although I'll be trying to keep an eye out for other Vic events that cater for beginners whom want to race there car but still have it in enough pieces to drive home.

Come to the Tampered Motorsport days. :woot: There's people of all skill levels there. The next one is on Australia Day.

I'm hoping to get to PI by the end of the year. Got to build up my confidence/skill a fair bit more though first. :D

January: do every race I can at Oran Park before it closes. Right now that is Irace on 14-15/1 and the final meet on 23-24/1. And give Neil a hand at the last state supersprint on 16/1.

March - Bathurst Sprint, Lake Mountain Sprint

November - National Supersprint in Qld (I thought it was QR, but maybe Morgan Park?). And whatever else I can do when I'm up there.

And as many rounds of NSW combined touring as I can

    • You're not the first person that's said that about this car lol. A Touring wagon GT in Spark yellow mica would be the dog's danglies 😆 I will keep an eye out for a future purchase for sure. The seats are almost like the OEM Recaros... electric adjustment for fore/aft and tilt movements except reclining.   
    • Yes!! I love these! It's a shame its not the wagon though!   Thank everything that's holy that it doesn't have the interior of the Aussie delivered ones. Those seats are so much nicer.

    • 2001 BE5D Subaru Legacy B4 RSK (3rd gen) EJ208 (pink injector) Twin Turbo 280PS 5-speed manual Full time 4WD "RSK" grade which means all of the above LQC option which means stock rear spoiler  I got it primarily to export to someone outside Japan who was interested. These BE5 Legacy B4 RSKs are going through a bit of a resurgence right know in Japan as they are one of the few cars from the "turbo, manual, RWD/4WD, 280hp gentleman's agreement era" cars that don't require stupid money to purchase. Which for some people might be a good opportunity to get as a base for restoration. If I can't find anyone to purchase it I will certainly be doing that myself over the long term. Why? Because it's properly fast in stock form, handles well enough for a GT sedan, there's still enough aftermarket and (if you can wait a while) genuine part support to make it a restoration candidate (<-- that will only get worse over time so it's a case of do it now or choose get a BL5 4th Gen). Mechanically it's fine, has only 89,200kms on the odometer. The problem with this car is that the body and exterior trims are weathered from at least the last 10 years being parked outdoors. I'm the 3rd owner, the first owner was the one that had it for 14 years and barely drove it, had a low-speed front impact (which didn't damage anything behind the radiator support) and got it fixed and sold it. The 2nd owner put most of the kms on it and parked it outside for the last 10 years, hence the door rubbers have seen better days but if you overlook those cosmetic details, it presents pretty nicely. There is some minor rust on the LH rear wheel arch which I'll have looked at too at some stage.  Also as you'd expect from a car this age, the clear top coat is gone, leaving a satin finish on the roof.  Mechanically it's fine (as you would expect from a car with less than 100K kms) but the steering does feel slightly vague around the centre position at higher speeds. So first on the list is to get the steering rack bushes looked at. There's also the Lock button on the remote which doesn't work, but the Open button does.... it means that the anti-theft system thinks it's always open? It seems like if you open the car and don't start the engine within 3 mins or so the anti-theft kicks in again without any beeps or signals. So if you got to start it after that, it won't. You have to push the open button again. That's how I understand it anyway. Just a small irritation but not a big problem to sort out. There's only one mod, the Wangan SPL muffler. Just a tad louder than stock. It's a really good mod for those who don't want to wake the neighbours but still want to hear a more prominent unequal length header EJ20 sound. Anyway I hope to get all those things done eventually, that is unless someone wanted to import it to their country from Japan (where I live). I'm open for negotiations as I really would like a Skyline... but this will definitely suffice in the meantime 🙂 *Disclaimer: This is how I picked it up from the dealer, minus the stuff on the back seat. I haven't cleaned the engine bay or done a thorough exterior clean, aside from spray painting the wipers.
