Reading threads like this is the only reason I have to be happily living in the NT

Reading this thread makes me glad i've got my car 100% legal and engineered so I don't have to care if the police pull me over and give me an EPA/canary for something they aren't sure about.

Actually scratch that above sentence...

After reading this thread I'm glad I'm not driving a skyline, but driving a Datsun. The police only pull you over to tell you they owned one when they were young, or their dad rallied them... :P

Ha ha ha ha...classic...an absolute classic! hahahah...I especially like the SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR PANTS line. However, I see your point mate, that's why I'm going to keep my GTR stock as a freaken rock. I need to clear the defect on the GTS-T so that I can sell the fuucka....thanks mate...

:P

Yeah keep it stock.

Just for a peace of mind, stock GTR airbox, BOV and FMIC can handle a decent 300 kW's no probs, so if you are looking at that sort of power, then you should be fine with them.

and the bit bout cops pulling you over in a import is part of the reason, but its also what you look like

i was driving my mum's 03 camry one night at around 3am, just cruising and there was a commodore with a green p and southern cross full of bogans, he was in front of me and turned left, and i turned too, cop car saw me did a u-turn and pulled me over. she breath tested me saying someone called 000 saying i was driving dangerously :S

but clearly it was because 3 wogs in a car at that time, cos the commodore had a full car load yet he wasnt pulled over and he was the only car around, so tell me how that works?

Yeah thanks mate...I've really lost interest in all the 'wank factor' stuff...don't know why, maybe because I've had enough of the shit cops give us and that I'm getting older perhaps.

Regardless the reason, I just want to turn my car back to stock and leave it that way...can't be bothered any more to be honest.

Hi all, as part of my endeavours to look as stock as possible, does anyone have a R33 GTR bonnet they can sell?

You could get your bonnet painted (colour matched too), so that you still have a carbon fibre bonnet, but looks less conspicuous. I think Carbon fibre bonnets are illegal anyway mainly due to the fact they can splinter when pedestrians hit them (a bit the same like carbon fibre dash boards, when you hit them they don't give the thing you hit them with back!)

So I guess it's your choice!

I'd just like to report to everyone that i finally got my car back yesterday after 5 weeks of it in the workshop getting a roadworthy!

I wasn't required to get a RWC, i've been pulled over 6 times this year and haven't been given a canary or anything, but like the title says - sick of fearing cops - and i wanted it to be totally legal and drive more frequently. it's sad, in the first 6 years I was never pulled over once, and this year has definately made up for that.

so fellow SAU'ers you will finally see me out and about and at more cruises now, looking forward to summer!

Solution: Move to a regional city lol - more access to open roads, and less cops per person. lol

I've been pulled over twice since i bought my car, once i was "driving out a bit late, sir?" and the other i was radar'd at 6 kms over the limit. Both times the police were very nice and respectful, and curious about the car. They are so used to falcodores being defected for rusting or bad condition they arent that experienced in spotting possible boost controllers etc.

Neither less, address the attention grabbing issues and you will be fine. I'm currently looking into buying a plumb back and getting a quieter exhaust, once thats done i dont expect a second look!

Ok let me get this straight, your avatar is "ItalianSuperHunk" :) yet you're saying the cops kinda pulled you over for how you look? I get the feeling that you're either Asian or African or something...hahahaha....

Speaking of stereo-typing, one punch line that I always get is...so let me guess, you either drive a Skyline, WRX or an Lancer Evolution, right? I'm like...fark, you got me again...

I'm of Asian background...although I was born in Australia and speak with a freaken Aussie accent, but regardless, Asians are labelled as Rice-burners....and I guess, it's not hard to understand why?

Cheers.

My CF bonnet is already painted black to match the car...but has vents and all that 'wanky' stuff...I just want it to look stock as rock...doesn't bother me if people think my car looks stock, shit or not fast...it's what's under the hood when I hit 4K RPM that matters... :D

So does anyone have a stock GTR bonnet to sell please please?

Good to hear buddy....good to hear...basically, the boys in blue have won...I just want my car to look stock as anything else and in-betwen is just not required...I really have lost the love for my Skylines after this year...sick and tired of getting pulled over and treated like a criminal...so I absolutely agree with you mate!

Better than people thinking you should drive a commo or falcon IMO. We all get stereo-typed. (I'm UK decent (4th or 5th gen)Aussie)

HAHAHAhahahah... You are on the money Ryan.

I'd rather be stereo typed driving a skyline/WRX/EVO etc. than a commodore :)

Wow, such passion and love for the 'R'...word! So you seriously would rather have a ball sack in your mouth than drive a VL Calais Turbo? Oh yeah...

I don't know. I'd rather drive a suzuki mighty boy at a B&S ball than have another mans balls in my mouth. :santa::cheers:

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
