If the Melb weather hits i will dead set put money on Webz (genuinely) Him and Vettel are equally quick in the wet and the RBR has alwas been a good thing in the wet. The reason i will back Mark is the one area he shines is in the changing conditions. If its dry and gettign wet he is always the quickext, and always has been....and i think back to when he blitzed the field at PI in a FF all those years ago. When everyone knows the grip level and its just light rain he is good. Trust me, if mid quali or race it start drizzling and people are left scratching their heads re just how much grip is there...he will shine

i think he will struggle even more. Lack of seat time in a current spec F1 car. Has he really done any wet running on top of that?

he did his best time in dodgy conditions this afternoon. only guy faster in that session was Weber, and miles ahead of teammate Rosberg this arvo. Looks like he might be getting the cobwebs out of his system!

practice today was more interesting than the previous race...

that asian in the sauber needs to go. he'll cause 2010 'biggest' aswell as 'most unnecessary' accident

he massively got in the way of at least 6 people in opening practice alone

other than that, great to see button dropping massive skids in pit entry... twice!! sounded spectacular. i love him already

Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has car impounded under anti-hoon laws

UPDATE 11.56pm: FORMER Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton was caught hoon driving and had his car impounded tonight.

The English McLaren driver did a burnout and a fishtail in a 2010 silver Mercedes along Lakeside Drive in front of a Victoria Police divisional van, that pulled him over.

He will be charged on summons with improper use of a vehicle. The sports car was towed to a police yard in Raglan St in Preston, where it will be held for 48 hours under anti-hoon laws.

The divisional van saw Hamilton turn into the street with smoking wheels and pulled him over.

Senior Constable Scott Woodford said the 2008 world champion stopped right away and was "extremely co-operative".

“It would have been fair to say he was fairly disappointed with the incident," he said.

Hamilton was interviewed for around half an hour in the car, and would have been routinely breath-tested.

Hamilton, who was visibly upset, had his car towed away and impounded and will also receive a fine.

It is understood he told policemen at the scene that he was worried this would dent his reputation.

The Herald Sun understands that he was not taken back the police station for questioning.

The incident happened at around 9.15pm tonight.

In 2007, Hamilton was banned from driving in France after being clocked driving at 123mp/h (around 200km/h).

He was given an on-the-fine and his sports car was impounded by French police.

Thats the pits. Lets see him take it to court and say there was nothing dangerous about what he was doing,, he is a World Champion doing a 30km/h skid ffs

Haven't seen anything that mentioned how fast he was going or anything like that, do you know something we don't?

Isn't Lake Side Drive part of the track? Must be right next to it if not

'2010 silver Mercedes' didn't have some Vodafone ads on the side, perchance? :). haha

    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
