I have a R33 1994 model with 110,00klms

Mods

3inch exhaust from back of turbo

greddy profec spec 2 boost controler

standard airbox with K&N

Bosch 040 fuel pump

running 100 octane everyday( i have it available at some local servos)

Standard turbo running 12 to 13 psi max

Trust side mount aftermarket intercooler( 240wide, 195 high, 100mm thick core) I want to keep the car looking original but making decent power.

HOW MUCH CAN THIS SMIC FLOW?

I have Power fc

z32 air flow meter

sard 850cc injectors

sard fuel pressure reg

i am planning on putting this gear on car when i get it tuned at Unigroup( yavuz is the man for powerc fc tune so thats where it is going)

Can anyone tell me what i should expect out of this set up ...kw at wheels

Im planning on putting full slicks on the skyline after tune and taking it to eastern creek to chase high 12s

Maybe 180rwkw Trust sidemounts are meant to be decent, the 34SMIC is meant to be fine for 220rwkw. and cheaper

IMO, don't fit the fuel press reg, will look stock.

Are you aware the K&N is an oiled element filter? AFM's don't like this. I personally would change it before fitting the Z32.

Same as everyone else mate... (re: dyno results thread)

190-200rwkw legitimately.

I was running 12.9's with 220rwkw. So if you'll be able to get a mid 12 on slicks, if not even lower depending on how you drive.

thanks for the advice mate.

im lucky i got the trust side mount for $100 bucks, very lucky i guess so hopefully will be good upgrade.

Your right about K&N, Shift performance have stainless steel high flow dry panel filters for $60, i will change it soon

If i can make between 200 and 220kw @ wheels with standard turbo i will be very pleased. I will keep you guys posted early next year when its tuned.

As for quarter mile i have run high 11s in my sr20 ke20 corolla with slicks. Only had 180kw at wheels with car weight of 950kg.

Good tires+good suspension+experience=Drag racing . power figures mean shit unless you get it all down to the tarmac and produce the times. time slip tells the story, not dyno figures.

I am not sure on your trust smic but i can tell ya with my ARC R34 smic and some other mods on a stock turbo R33 I make a 211rwkw @ 10psi. Dyno was done at Creatd in Melbourne on BP 98 pump fuel. Car has run 13.3 @ 109mph at heathcote test n tune with current setup on street tyres but it is more set up for circuit/hill climb use.

Other mods - 3 inch bell mouth front/dump - apexi hi flo cat - hks silent hi power cat back - hks spark plugs - hdi dual ebc - apexi safcII - hks panel filter - custom intake pipe - 040 fuel pump - orc clutch + light flywheel.

I like the idea of stealth so everything i did is hidden - black piping in the engine bay - concealed ebc and safcII in cabin. I got a mate who is a TMU cop to have a look over it and he had trouble finding anything I had done.

If you make over 200rwkw you'll be lucky. Also, why on earth would you get 850cc injectors when the stock ones will do the job for a lot more than what you will be pushing??

Edited by PM-R33

And the fuel reg etc etc... lots of useless parts in that list.

850cc will flow 400rwkw+, why then you'd need a fuel reg on TOP to get even more flow, beyond me.

Even the Z32 is a waste of time.

looks like 200 to 220kw is achievable, thanks guys.

Also reason i have sard 850cc injectors and fuel reg is cause i got them so cheap . like i said the standard turbo will be history some time next year and then its Garrett time baby. The injectors will support my goal of achieving around 280kw. If i dont need the fuel reg at this point then im happy to sell it to some one that needs it more than me.

Z32 air flow will provide a much better tune, refined rather than power , i know this....

Anyway thanks for the feedback boys, this site is a source of knowledge, a good reliable resource.

Hey (R31 Nismoid) f**kwit...this has nothing to do with this post...but thought i would share what im about to say with everyone since you closed my topic for no f**king reason! guess what asshole i dont need to use SAU anymore...iv noticed its only cheap flamin mongrels that use this site only another version of ebay! i reported some1 and the least you could say was not to worry about it and i would have been happy! but u decided to be some hard flamin mongrel and f**k it up for me! f**k u and ur shitbox R31...shove it up ur mums ass u f**king top bloke! lol seems like ur power hungry going around to peoples topics and closing them for no f**ked up reason! just coz ur a stupid low life administrator...who gives a shit...and u cant do jack shit about what im saying!

flamin mongrel...

I had a trust smic in my Stagea but destroyed it when i wrote the car off and found a nismo one for my next stagea. the smic should support up to 230awkw (I made that with a GCG highflow) and the arc version (the 100mm thick one) will probably support about 240awkw although may need a water spray on high boost if you are in a hot climate. 280kw is acheivable with 550 injectors so stock fpr should be fine.

Mate dont put the parts in now. You do not need to do so! :)

- Z32 does not offer a more refined tune. It is actually less refined due to the AFM resolution.

- Larger injectors, harder to tune/fuel economy issues possible

- Fuel reg, just simply not required (i'd sell it, factory is tried and proven over 350rwkw :()

Honestly leave ALL the parts factory and put them on when you upgrade the turbo. You'll have to get a retune anyhow so fit them at that time.

I've had similar parts sitting in my bedroom for 2 years, simply because i don't need them. No point putting wear and tear on items for no reason.

It's great you are prepared parts wise, but there is no benefit to putting anything in now with the factory turbo.

Why do people upgrade to the z32 air flow meter?

Should i sell my fuel pressure reg?

Should i down size my injectors to 550cc for better fuel economy and tune capabilities?

Value your opinion.

The standard AFM can only detect a certain amount of airflow, and upgrade to the Z32 when pushing 250+rwkw(i think)

Don't put bigger injectors in till you upgrade your turbo, the standard items are good for about 240rwkw+

You didn't follow rules for creating a for sale topic, it got locked, harden the f**k up and get over it instead of having a fit and making yourself look like an idiot.

"Cheap flaming mongrels use this site"....umm yeah, we are all cheap, hence most of us spend stupid amounts of money on cars and there is probably some of the most expensive modified cars in Australia on this site....good logic.

The admin and moderators do one of the best jobs of any car site i have visited and this is probably one of the best sites for information and keeping f**kwits out, funny how most of us don't have problems...

    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
    • Yep, this bit another local owner. I caught it before putting the transmission back into the car, what I noticed was the pressure plate fingers weren't flat and even. It's more obvious with the pull style clutch because the throwout bearing ring was visibly not flat once everything is put together. Nismo should really update their instructions to call out this specific detail. I'm not even sure the clutch as-shipped orients everything properly.
