Even people with top of the range Motec ECU's still have a seperate boost controller, some even the SAFC aswell. Alot of supras do this in america, especially in their supra movies. I guess they have lotsa money too

Reason why most aftermarket ECU has separate boost controller is the extra tunability. Even Apexi PowerFC's boost control option (extra few hundreds of $$$) is good, however still not as good as its sister product, a stand alone AVC-R. Not in terms of quality or operational but in flexibility and tunability.

nah its good like that, no spikes, just watch the digital readout climb all the way and sit there.

i'm more than happy with it, just get someone who knows what they're doing to tune it, took it to a somewhat respected workshop in syd and they'd either never tuned one before or they were just really crap. actually had to come back later to give them the manual.

Hmm... problem is not many standalone ecu for that price incorporates everything. Not sure about Wolf but even PowerFC DOES NOT have a boost controller embedded, it is still an option add-on that you need to buy.... so as far as I know there hasn't been any so far... unless u can show us which aftermarket ECU has boost controller included for that price.

wolf3d has built in boost controll which can be accessed through a laptop (dont quote me i could be making stuff up here )

i can do avcr tuning - guaranteed to come on stonger, earlier =)

the only issue i have with the avcr is it doesnt fit into a factory DIN. so i leave it in the glovebox.

I have mine mounted where the ashtray use to be. Once you know what the broad brush strokes are for setting up its actually pretty easy. I can get mine to hold stable boost without spiking at 1.1bar when the std wastegate pressure is 0.65, so can easily to the job. I think if i want to run any higher though she will start to perhaps struggle and ill have to wind in the wastegtae to about 0.85bar to endure it is stable at 1.3bar.

Get whatever you like the looks off, and just ensure it is setup correctly as they all work well when installed properly.

...oh what mad bugger would buy a Motec only to use an SAFC. A boost controller i perhaps understand as that frees up an output on the ECU to be used for other things, but an SAFC on an M48 let alone M8???? I wish i was the workshop selling this guy stuff

Selling me stuff? are u talking to me?

I see it all the time, probably 4-5 cars now.

I know they do something with it, not sure why, but they do.

No wasnt referring to you specificly, but the cars you have seen.

Just saying if i was a workshop id love to have clients who let me sell them a fuel/ignition ECU like Motec M8 (you did say top of the range) then only to sell them an SAFC as well.

Doesnt make sense, like i said the boost controller frees up an output to be used for something else, but it doesnt make sense to use an SAFC on an ECU that offers superior control over fuel and ignition.

I know, i never said they were smart ;)

Ide assume they had the SAFC already when the got the other ECU etc

It would allow you to change fuel settings instantly, where in full EMS you can only change maps that have set setting.

Or something like that

i had a TurboXS bleed valve on my S13, it had full exhaust and hybrid cooler, stock turbo SR, the bleed valve worked quite well for 1bar, then i got a 2nd hand Trust/Greddy Profec B (spec 1) for it and it boosted better and for a bit longer, when playing with the boost response knob (forget its exact name) but really didnt make too much difference really just coz of the stock T25G being out of its effeciency pretty easily and always wanting to bleed boost.

in my DR30 it has an older style HKS EVC and i find this to work really well on this car. running about 1.1bar and it goes up and stays there really well, never ever spikes or jumps around. i have catback exhaust (soon to be full =]) and a small FMIC, stock T3 turbo (FJ20)

Heres some info for all you.

The profec b spec 2 is useless with an external gate.

is that why u asked me abt hks evc today?

well, in hks evc there's a switch at the back of the control unit to select either internal/external wastegate. didn't the profec b spec2 has somehting similar?

maybe hidden in somewhere in the webs of its electronic menu or options, unlike a swithc or something.

Profec b has a seperate intake into to the solenoid for an external gate but the solenoid aint so great with the ext gate.

HKS EVC 3 or 4 with the stepper motor works the best with ext gate.

hi there.... can i get some help from you guys?? i have just installed a Blitz Dual SBC Spec S into my R33 gtst and was wondering what is the settings you guys have in it?? i want to increase my boost up to 0.8 bar.... any help would be apreciated... thanks.. :headspin:

cheers :D

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
