Hey guys,

Thought this would be the best place to ask since most of you have already done it.

Were dry-icing our sil80 tomorrow morning but we have to drive 45mins to go get it since the closest shop is sold out.

So id love to know how many kg's to buy as we have no idea at all?

We need enough to remove every single piece of deadening on the floorpan and boot etc.

just did it with 5 kg for 42 bux

but next time i would go 13 kg for 100 bux and farken make it easier

and watch the burns i have ten on my body ( the arse hurts the most!.. cause i scrached it thinking it was a mosquito bite)

doing it in thongs is not recomended... lol

I used 7kg and had not much left over when I did it myself. When we did a mates car there were 3 of us and he bought 7kg and had a heap left over!

You will need from 4-7kg. At roughly $6kg get more then less.

The deadener starts to crack after 1 minute when the dry ice is applied. Leave it on there for a minute or two and then move it around. The hard part is moving it around. Start at the highest point of the car (back seat) and then move it around then down to the footwells. For the wheel arches and transmission tunnel, you will need to put it in a bag and try and get it to sit on there.

The sound deadener is the easy part, the seam silicone is the hard stuff and the dry ice wont remove that - chisel, hammer, wire brush, heat gun, turps and plenty of swearing to get that shit off!!!!

I used 6kg. Two cubed 2kg bags, and one block. I used the block for the more vertical panels, just rested it against it and let it do the work. I think it made it easier than trying to hold up the cubes somehow on vertical surfaces.

And for what it's worth I didn't use gloves and wore thongs, just moved it around with my hands mostly and when moving to a different area just scooped it up with a dustpan and brush. I didn't suffer any burns. Just don't grab it or hold onto it and you'll be fine. :rofl:

I recommend having some empty plastic drink bottles available to have some fun with afterwards. Yes, I'm a juvi.

i used one large eski full and i think if i did it again i would use two just to make the whole process easy-er , and like said above dont leave it to long just untill it starts to pop and start removing the large chunks and get the ice to do most of the work !!!!!!

then its just scrapping and chipping all the little stuff off.

Thanks alot guys for the insight, we got about 6kg this morning but it wasnt quite enough.

We finished the entire floorpan and boot area, it was easy; the only bits we missed were the rear inner guards! They have deadener all the way round on both sides!

We left them till last but by that time we had stuff all ice left and there was more deadener than ice in the messy mix we finished up with.

Next weekend we will get another kg and finish off the rear guards.

We used some solvent gloves I had lying around and a couple of chisels, so no burns, apart from competitions of who could hold a nugget on their arm the longest!

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that 
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
