The first round of the 2010 CAMS NSW Supersprint was held on 17 January here are some images.

And Duncan (LSX-438) what can I say....... Well done mate that was a fantastic save. You looked a little disappointed with the times on day but at least you gave it everything & a little more.

And well done to Stewart Inwood took FTD with a 1:15.05

I only managed to get a 1:19.6 but to be only 2.5 seconds slower than the R35 GTR in a 69 Mazda R100 i was wraped.

Well Benh unfortunately and fortunately for some,,,the organizing commitee decided because it was the last time there they would increase the field to 125 cars. Thats basically 2 more groups of cars. Personally I thought it was a bad call. I'm of the opinion thats it's 1st in best dressed.

I had a frustrating day with the car,,,Duncan and I have fixed and improved it,,,but it still has this weird thing happening,,,like massive turbo lag on the straight. Ebay here i come for an ECU might be a good start as well as some dyno time. The track also lacked mid corner grip all day,,,but not for Stuart to seems. Nice work mate,,,congrats!!!!. Bloody 4wd's are taking over,,,but at least I hung onto my class lap record which I own now forever.

Neil.

Any more pics or even video of the event?

I was there in my white S13 Silvia and loved every minute, despite some delays in the morning. I was satisfied after 4 sessions.

Got sideways over the flip flop a couple of times. Had a little off at turn one in the last session as well! That certainly got the pulse racing going off road at approx 160/kmhr

How did you go nismoman?

Best I've ever done actually. I was gunning for a sub 1min 20 sec lap, but couldn't quite make it. Managed a 1:20.8 and 28th outright.

I'm happy about the result considering it was the absolute last competition at Oran Park, it's going to have to do!

Competition is very tight and there are lots of closely matched cars. Bring on next round at EC, can't wait.

gret to see so many on here running in the series.

huge congrats to Stu Inwood - he set (and kept forever) the SVD record on a day that the track was in poor condition....pretty much everyone else was 1-2 sec off previous times

So this was you then Nismoman in the S13

Cool! Yep that's me getting it all crossed up coming into the esses! Nice photo.

From memory, I was sideways from the exit of the bridge all the way through to suttons!

Wasn't the quickest lap but sure was fun :)

Seems someone didn't listen to the drivers briefing. I remember something about holding up faster cars and letting them past on the straight. Clearly you were faster everywhere bar the straight,,,did you not talk to Duncan after that run???.

If it any consolation Stuart,,,I get it at every round from the clubby's,,,I now just push in front,,,but if that doesn't work I now lay down the law to them. Seems the box car boys think they own red group.

Neil.

Hi All,

Here's the link to the first run of the day at the last ever OPGP. Enjoy

Must say, was a great day, bit slippery, delays have to be expected at any event with big fields!

Nice work Stu, car looks like it has heaps of corner grip and plenty of mumbo. The R35 is truly amazing in a straight line.

You doing superlap? I'd say you would be at the pointy end in open class if you entered....

Hi Neil

Yes, did have a chat, and resolved - no issues, as you can see the 35's were having grip issues - not too worry got a good time that run and a PB next - all good!!

Congrats to Ovi and Jason N on PB's in SVD.

Thanks Jack, at last got R33 behaving itself - still not over fussed with front brake pads, got a tune over xmas, not impressed, booked for re-tune - down about 30kws plus, was nice to drive - yes we are entering to do superlap in R33, from list of entries I beleive Hi-Octane R34 has an empty seat, my butt would fit and I am available :)

Anyway's will be there in the R33 come visit to all and any.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
