Ghostrider, I don't know what anyone can do to make you happy. I personally am really disappointed at your comments, which are once again misinformed.

We have to order the trophies for this event six weeks in advance. Without knowing how many cars are going to turn up on the day, we can only guestimate what sort of cars are going to attend, so we base the trophy list on the cars that attended the last nationals. At the last nats, we had 5 pre 1986 cars, apart from the princes. So trophy's were ordered according to that attendance. This year, we had 8 R30's turn up, and 2 C110's. Most of these cars entered less than 4 weeks before the event. How you missed the announcement of Best Modified pre 86 proves that you weren't really listening. Out of the 10 pre 86 cars there, there were 6 trophies all up.

There were many trophy's that were not presented on the night, because frankly, it's embarrasing to keep announcing winners, when they are not there to collect their trophy's. It doesn't do either car club any good.

I agree the C110 was the stand out car of the event. It was the best prepared car I have ever seen. We do have an award for both him, and the sedan. But they were not there. The car that one best overall modified, won the points on the amount of mods, and the standard of the mods. There was a small points differnce between that car, and the C110. Thats the way the coins fell Dennis, so we had to go with that. I personally thought Stephen Kings HR30 was a standout, and, very marginally better than yours, but once again, the judges scored the cars, and we stuck with what the judges scored.

You are far too critical my friend, especially seeing you walked away with first prize. It would have been fantastic to hear you say what a great event it was, and how pleased you were to walk away with a first place trophy, but instead you have once again criticised the massive amount of work gone into this, and all because you have assumed things that are incorrect.

I have to say that my tolerance for your ignorance is wearing very thin. I really wish you could just appreciate the event, the cars, and the effort that went into making it all possible instead of feeling the need to put a dampner on all things Skyline.

Your wheels are also on their way.

Wished I could have made it to the event Cazz

Sounds like it was a fantastic few days.

Can't begin to imagine how much effort is involved in running something like this.

WELL DONE

WELL DONE

Same here

Perth in 4 years?

I'm looking forward to a lot of pics of this.

Thanks to Caz and the team, well done. Much enjoyed.

Will see if I can help out (if its wanted) for the next round here in Goulburn (Im in Canberra so its only 50 min away)

Looks like there will be some serious competition in the next show & shine!

Before you know it, there will end up with a 4 door versus 2 door in each DR/MR/HR30 category lol.... cant keep everyone happy, but thats the risk when you go out to do something enjoyable for a majority of enthusiasts.

I can't wait for the day when that happens Mag86. Every time we have this event, we get more pre 1986 cars. As the president of "Classic Skylines Australia" it is very pleasing to see so many good cars, being imported, or restored or just pulled out of sheds. I can't wait to see more C110's and a few C210's turn up. The R30 contingent is now well represented. To be able to get a couple of KGC10's would be amazing.

Please excuse my self indulgence, my first drive was terrifying, but soooooo mind blowing.

mmmmmm pics make it look like I was in front of Rod. hehehehe, gonna let everyone think that.

If I could just find a worthwhile C110 soon I'd be ready for the next event

To think I had one as a second car when it was about 8 years old.

If only I knew then what I know now !!

KGC10 for Goulburn?????? ;)

hmmmmmm....might just be able to do something about that.....

Then all we need is the only 1st gen Skyline in Oz to show up. :D;)

Sorry there wasn't many of our cars (Prince) there...

Heard great feedback Cazz. Congrats! We are aiming for the Prince mafia to get to the next one....

As for trophies - we don't need any for 2 door Prince.... :D Although we would never complain...

Top job as always Cazz.

How can i get a cd full of pics - next CSA meeting perhaps? Adrian?

ahhh hello Jase, Perhaps next meeting i can have some for you....

Yawn, you cant please all the people all of the time,

the reason that the Black c110 didnt get announced as the PRE 1980 winner is that both him and his Brother were not there,

if you hadn't Noticed that the Table still had Many many trophies on it we couldn't stand there and announce for so many people to come and collect their trophies if they were not there! we already had lots and lots of that.

As for the Runner Up in Pre 86, i dont know what happened there i wasnt judging the r30's but it is something that we will be looking into in the future we were not used to having such a large representation of the R30/DR30/HR30 series at the Nationals but now we can grow and Adjust our systems and Processes to suit the "resurgence" of these cars at Shows.

For those Interested,

Pre 1980 Modified

Winner: Black C110 coupe

Runner Up: White C110 Sedan

Peoples Choice

Sebastian Lip Targa R35 GTR

also another who could not attend ^^

Im also Sorry Dennis were you not happy with the fact that your 30 Won? im not sure what the issue is?

We also Had Pre 86 Modified both of which went to 30's

which was announced on the night.

so ummm by my counting out of 8 30's that attended the event,

4 went home with trophies,

Dennis what can i do to make this wright for you? i would love to see a Post from you saying How happy you are with something for a Change,

you seamed like a nice guy at the event and your car is Just simply stunning, but i did not see you smile once. even now i cant help but feel you are unhappy.

and As for the 31 comment,

well we had

Hr31 Standard and Modified,

R31 Standard and Modified,

Now that More 30's are attending maybe next time we can also have

R30 Standard and Modified

HR30 Standard and Modified

DR30 Standard and Modified,

as these are the only 2 models that we had domestically and variations imported to australia from Japan,

But if we have that many trophies then we will need cars to Award them too, otherwise we will be left with Boxes of left overs like we have now for

R34 Standard

R33 Standard

Let's just put a few things straight!

I am NOT unhappy, I'm thrilled to bits, that I won the class, especially when on the day before, Friday at 1.00pm I lifted the covers off the car to find it was black from diesel exhaust soot collecting under the car cover over the 3 days travelling to Adelaide. That's something I will never do again, cover a car in transit.

If it wasn't for MAG86 and his mate Chance and their efforts to help clean up the car with the assistance of a sh!t load of Bug & Tar Remover, the car might not have been presented at all at the show n shine. I am very grateful for their help and assistance. As it was I was washing the car at 10.00pm that night at the motel.

As for announcements, the entire table I was sitting at, including MAG86 heard nothing other than the 2 R30 awards already spoken of, but coincidently we did hear R31, R32 & R33 awards announced that nobody was there to collect and the presentation table was bare after the track awards were done. The uncollected awards were on the 2nd table to the left & behind the microphone and dias.

You forgot SVD class and have I got it wrong when I say it's GTS R31 as well.

As Rob Ward said, it was very disappointing that some recognition by announcement wasn't done regardless of wether they were there to accept or not. At least everyone at the presentation dinner would be aware of the awards won on the day and some of what I said earlier might not have been said at all.

Some of the comments made by judges bewildered me a little, like freedom to choose between stereos & owner's manuals????? The way I got it was that if a car had an after market non vintage stereo system (CD/DVD/MP3 etc) fitted, yet had the original owner's manual that car would be awarded max points for that section as standard, as opposed to a car that has standard option radio and no owner's manual, would also receive max points in that section. How can that be??? What happens then to the car that has both, the standard vintage radio system & original owner's manual??????????? Why should not that car have the wood over the other 2 in that section?????????

I thought the Show n Shine was a fantastic event and the attendance of over 100 cars was outstanding and haven't seen a turn out like it since my Hillman/Humber days. The presentation of the cars was great, showed that some owners were maticulous about their presentation & preparation, just a pity there was so many white ones that they couldn't be broken up and mixed about more, but that's how the cookie crumbles as it goes. Cazz's GTS 145 was stunning, it's presentation was superb on the SVD mat, but if I have been informed correctly, it should be after the dollars that were thrown at it. Cazz also made the comment she thought Stephen King's Series 1 HR30 was a stand out and was marginally better than mine, which was an interesting opinion, as Stephen thought the exact opposite on the day and has asked me to procure parts for him to make it a little different the next time we meet. Stephen thought my presentation and condition for it's age was outstanding.

Other than the black C110 coupe, I thought the sound of triple DCOE's on the white sedan was brilliant, just a pity more diligence wasn't paid to the detail of the overall presentation of the car.

I am looking forward to the 2012 event, so that I can show off both of my Paul Newman Version Skylines and my DR30 track car. I'll be a bit longer in the tooth by then, so I might have to co opt an apprentice to do some or all the track time in the DR in my place.

I made my comments on how I saw it and it sure looked like it was biased in favour of R31's, not on wether or not I was happy. I have quite a few pics of the cars that I will download later.

Cheers, D

ahhh hello Jase, Perhaps next meeting i can have some for you....

Sounds good Adrian. Sure a few of the other Prince Mafia would appreciate it also.

Sounds like it was a great event!

Will ensure our group has more in attendance.

Even with my hectic family life at the time (we had a baby son at 0849 Monday morning), I was able to participate in the nationals except for getting some track time (I have a list of piss-poor excuses as to why I didn't enter to race, some more piss-poor than others!). It was a great weekend, catching up with fellow (D/H/M/RM) R30 owners (you ACT guys certainly don't hold back on the mods once you get started!) was great, and watching all the cars get used in anger at Malalla was fantastic.

There were a few organisational hiccups (there always are) that could certainly be rectified for the 2012 Nationals, but I'l discuss them with Cazz in private. Rest assured they are nothing disastrous. The C210 and Prince owners have some making up to do, and hopefully there's a couple of C10's that can also make an appearance in 2 years time.

Pity about the GIO car blowing a diff (among the other disasters that the owner had to endure just to get to Adelaide...), their determination was admirable.

I've already started thinking about the logistical side of entering my car in 2 years time, plus a list of 'things to address' so I can have a blast around Wakefield Park, and not have to trailer a broken car the 1500km home afterwards

Dennis has made some valid points about the awards - there did seem to be a bit of flawed logic and improvisation in the judging/scoring process (Don't get me wrong, my car wasn't quite up there for an award, so I'm not dirty on missing out!) but Carolyn's response about having to have the trophies supplied with such a leadtime goes a bit of a way to explaining the issue.

Looking forward to 2012...

Maybe some others could add to this list of pics, because there were lots of cameras getting used on the day. I have seen on the big screen some very good pics of some of the cars, so please add to the list to make it more complete.

Cheers, D

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
