Well after reading the site i thought time to get new globes. So i checked my model against the forum and it said "D2R" globes. Righto off to sharperdeal and i bought two sets.

Wrong information, the globes dont fit my car. :domokun:

So a two pronged post, If you have a 1999 Stagea you may have D2r bulbs or you might have a HB3/9005 and a H1 which possibly come in HID or non HID.

- Can any1 confirm for me where the HID ballasts are kept

- Any suggestions for options? (D2r to H1 adaptor)

- Any1 know what bulbs i DEFIANTLY have

And ... any 1 want to buy 1-2 sets of D2R 8k bulbs unopened/unfitted?

Ballasts are on the back of the headlight unit. Did you check firstly if your car had been de-HID'd when it was complied ? You didnt notice if your old bulbs were HIDs or not by the light.

Your options are get the original HID wired back (if your car was HID in the first place). I wouldnt be using the 8000k bulbs though, way too blue. Standard is around 4200k.

Fit an aftermarket HID kit.

Run H1 standard bulbs.

I was told the HID's had not been removed, also the wiring does not look new or modified. Factory fuses/relays in the box still.

My only assumption is that there are more than two types installed. (any confirmations?)

- Halogen

- HID (H3/9005 & H1)

- Xenon HID (D2R)

Here are some pics,

Well, the answer is they were removed. Upon looking through ebay i found out the ballast is located exterior to the light on the inside edge. Well thats where it should have been.

So i need a HID kit, is there also a HID kit for the HB3 light (high beam)?

yeah they are H1 globes because i just changed over mine yesterday and no they are not HID, i still have my hid in place but it was just bypassed and wired up with the complaince lights, if u still had hid it would have the balliest next to the outside lights and it would have a thick silver headshield tube connecting to a a plastic housing where you put your hid globes

i hope that is some help for you

WOOt!

I received the HID kit from "sharperdeal" installed them in about 2 -3 hrs and love them. Bad point is they showed up all the scratches in my lenses so i now am going to polish and reseal them. Groan!

I would recommend the kit to anyone.

i think sharperdeal is an eBay seller.

Sure is, i had the same problem, just search for D2R on ebay and you will find them or just get any other D2R globe, i got some 6000k ones from Ebay which look white with a very very slight tinge of blue to them, i got them in 55w but stock ones are 35w

Oh and i hate the scratches inside the headlights HID's do a great job of showing them up and i cant be bothered pulling my head lights apart

Bad photo i know (iPhone...) but thats a 55w HID 6000k globe

Yes sharper deal is a ebay seller. http://myworld.ebay.com/sharperdeal (i got the 8k HID kits)

I pulled the front end of my stag yesterday to remove the headlights. Threw them in the oven and have pulled the lenses off. Going to clean the insides tonight. Havent figured out how to remove the old glue before i reseal them.

Took to the front of the lens with 400Grit sandpaper, then smoothed with 1200grit. need to power polish them and remove the final scratches.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?

    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
