Ive been looking at buying a Stagea for over 18 months now, and I finally bit the bullet and purchased one (was advertised on SAU also) and it drives like a dream.

Im currently attempting to source new springs (possibly coilovers) to raise the ride height and make it more managable. With that taken care of, I'm curious about finding out how some of the electronics work and what can be done with them (if anything).

To that end, what can be done with the existing 'audio' system in my car? Im fairly sure it was an aftermarket kit that has been fitted, it isnt a popup system.

The Sat nav system associated with it is a Panasonic CN-HD9000

and the headunit is an Alpine DVA-9860J

Im not sure if these are antennas for the systems or not, but both rear side windows have identical wire configurations on the inside.

and on the windscreen...

It also has what looks to be a microphone..

There is some sort of Car Security system, the car is fitted with an immobaliser however other than that I dont know what specifics of it are. This unit on the dash has an antenna though?

Just throwing this out there for ideas, if anyone knows what can be done with the existing stuff it'd be great ;)

Welcome mate,

Looks like you got the one with the bride seats and nismo options. Very nice looking vehicle.

Unfortunately I am quiet new to Stagea myself so Ill let some of the more knowledgeable people chime in.

look's like a good buy....welcome!

What state are you in?....best bet is to get in contact with Chris Rogers.....I'm sure he'll be able to help you out on your all your electrical needs.

@Chris. If you read this I haven't forgotten about you....been away camping.

Regarding the supension - it may be height adjustable as it doesn't look stock. Alternatively someone wanting to lower their car may swap with you. have a good look at it and if you don't know what it is get someone to identify it.

Cheers mate! Yeah the Recaro's are the most comfortable seats Ive ever sat in, super happy with them :)

Ta!

I've seen his name thrown about a little, Im just in the process of getting my post count up so I can PM him to discuss some of it too - thought I might as well throw it out to the general community for feedback and discussion first though. Im in Adelaide though, so I dont know how easy it'll be for him personally to work on it but he might be able to suggest some people if I need work done :D

Pretty sure its not height adjustable, I took it down to Jap Motorsport and that was their first thought, they had a gander and confirmed that it looks like lowered springs. If someone else wanted to swap their stock springs for mine I'd be happy to trade them though!

If your not far from Parafield area I can show you the set up in my wifes m35. It has a dvd and aussie digital tv, front mount cameras and dual headrests. And Id like to see how your set up works.

As I stated a couple of days ago. This was a good buy.

Plenty of info from the M35 fellas for elctrics, xnavi, gps, tv language converters etc.

How is it on boost with the high flow, any dyno results?

Im near Magill, definitely keen to see what else can be done though. My system does have a reversing camera, and it works an absolute treat.

I saw that one for sale and wanted the wing :) it really sets em apart from the others.

great buy! looks like alot of aftermarket stereo and navi unit in there! you might actually be able to get that navi to work.. unlike all of us with the factory system..

congrats on the buy!!

I think this system is a little bit different to the standard xnavi system, but I think I saw a V35 with the same setup on here some time ago; I'll chase that guy down and see if he was ever able to do much with it too :merli:

I dont think it's ever seen a dyno. Its the first turbo I've owned, but I've test driven two other Stageas for comparison in the past month; I'd say the boost comes in at about ~2750 and stays on till gear change - nice solid delivery, feels like it peaks at about 3500-4000.

Cheers mate :) Im a fan of the wing too ;) its just a little cheeky one but I agree that it really sets the whole back end off. Fingers crossed we can suss out something with the stereo/navi, time & Chris Rogers will tell ;)

If you didnt know, the microphone is likely connected to the headunit for bluetooth hands free, my headunit has it too. Comes in useful.

Yeah? Hrm.. Will have to give that a go!

edit How'd you enable yours Brian? I went through all the options in the menu on the screen, where two options presented themselves I tried each one - and after making each alteration I scanned for bluetooth devices on my phone but never found any. Any thoughs? ;)

There is one of these units in the v series section for sale the microphone is for voice activated commands for the gps. Check out the guy has some good photos of the backs of units looks like you could connect up another player. If you want to have a look at my m35 my number is in my sig

With my unit it's basically just press a button on the headunit, connect to it with the phone and it's done.

I guess that answers that question, lol

craig,

no biggie. been a bit busy myself.

regarding the audio system in there - find a trash can - pull it up to the car and dump all of that in it. the alpine unit is region locked and old. the panasonic navi is useless. screen could be reused but its really not worth dicking with.

alarm - depends on what it is. if youcan see a rats nest when you yank the lower dash I'd suggest replacing it before it strands you..

shame you are not brissy based I regularly work on these things..

All of it useless? Rats. I was hoping some might be at least partially okay to update/re-flash, ah well I guess thats how it goes. I'll leave it be for the time being though, mostly because the reversing camera is handy :)

    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
    • You just gotta be really, really, really clear and decisive with what you want your end product to be. 99% of people who want this conversion aren't "I want to run a 295 front tyre!" so they don't really need the widebody. They just want the OEM body to look a little less dumpy, so bonnet, bar, skirts job done with some camber, stretch, slam. It's when you want that, but then decide to pivot later you get big problems. See also if you're willing to get an all in one fibreglass bar, and you're willing to accept fibreglass problems like cracking the entire item on a driveway, instead of just a piece attached to the bottom, etc etc etc. Decide this all before buyin'.
    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
