Hi everybody!

http://www.actmotorclubs.org.au/go/shannons-wheels-2008

Wheels is only a month away and we aren't organised yet. Last year we had an awesome turn out and even had a 35 GTR!

Now I know it is a big ask, but it would be great if we could actually drive in together in order. It makes life so much easier (ask John who had to move his car about 11ty billion times) and you only need to get up a bit earlier.

Can anyone who is coming be at the boat ramp by 7.30 to give us some time to organise and leave by 8am sharp!

Don't forget plenty of water and sunscreen!

Hey Mr Federal, do you have a tent we could borrow?

I have emailed the organisers to let them know we are coming, so don't let the side down!

Can everyone who is coming put their name and model (car, not the one you like the most):

1- Donnan 32 GTR

im going to assume that its the boat ramp where we meet on friday nights.. and yes for all of those people who have not been there during the day there is a boat ramp off to the left when you drive towards where we meet (near the restaurant)

Stupid question, but do we need to fill out and submit the entry form? I'm going with yes, but I'm getting the impression we might not?

On second assessment, the entry form is dated 2009....question still remains, though the form itself is invalid lol

After some light skim reading on the site, I'm still not sure what this actually is.. What day is it being held on? And how much time will it take up in total? Do our cars have to be in pristine condition or is a mangled front bar and a dirty engine bay acceptable? Sounds like it might be worth taking a day off work for.

It is a colection of car "clubs" that put on a free stactic car show for Canberra. It takes from when you turn up to when you leave, normally people leave around 2pm but earlier is OK. It does not matter the condition of the car, however most owners take some pride in washing the car for the day. You can keep the bonnet down.

It's worth going if only once.

I can never be bothered to do all the cleaning stuff on my own. Someone want to meet up the day before and double team our cars? I used to detail cars so I'm pretty handy with it. Don't care if it's just a wash, vacuum and polish or a full rejuv of plastics, shampooing of carpets and detailing of engine bay. Any takers?

I would say yes I'm keen, but oh god after doing it previously, and the condition of my paint....no thanks lol....I'd rather pay through the teeth for it to be done while I wander around Westfield belco for a few hours :D

    • Hey everyone. Is there a way I can get the original window sticker (maroney label) for my 1995 R33 GTST? I doubt I’ll be able to ever get it but it’s worth a shot to ask
    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
