Stalling issue has been present since I purchased the car. Only stalls when I am changing gear and the revs are allowed to drop. It's doesn't happen every time and changing gear really quick is my current work around.

Car also started having an irregular idle bouncing around with out any throttle.

I had seen this before on my old r32 so I figured it was simply the acc valve.

My AFM also would occasionally cut out since i replaced the turbo. Figured removing the AFM had knocked it around and cause dry solder joints.

Soldered the AFM, removed ACC valve and emptied a heap of carbie cleaner on it.

Erratic idle problem fixed and no more afm cut out but the stalling issue is still there.

Before anyone asks i used to have an external venting BOV but it was removed during my turbo installed and am currently not running any BOV.

Any ideas on what is going on?

Stall was also happening when there was a venting BOV. I have a stock BOV laying round i might get a fitting welded to my intake pipe and hook her up.

I dont think this will fix the problem but i have been told by hypergear to put a bov on my car

I suffered this problem for months... It was fixed after a service although I hadn't told the mechanic about the issue... the only non standard thing he did was clean the throttlebody, but since then I've had no such issues. He said it was filthy & clogged. Also noted a slight increase in lower end responsiveness from that service. Worth consideration I suppose...

No BOV and Atmo BOV. Same end result. The measurements from the AFM will be buggered up causing the stalling. (as it does in soooooo many skylines with altered BOV setups.

Plumb in a stocko BOV in the factory location with return pipe running between the afm and turbo inlet and see if that solves your problems before you go hunting too hard for unknowns.

I had this problem with a cracked vacuum line.. Mine was obvious as the vacuum line from the back of the plenum to the stock boost gauge had cracked on the end and thus was no longer connected to the plenum.

So yeah, check vacuum lines if you haven't already..

I had this problem with few R33s I imported years back. This was from Timing belt. Replace your timing belt and adjust engine timing to 10 degrees at idle. Normally this problem goes away.

Also check your idle controller plus vacuum leaks specially the small rubber nipple comes out on the driver side.

    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
