Hmmm... Thinking about buying an R34 GT-4. How easy is it to do an engine swap? Drop in an RB26 and it's essentially a GTR..

Never seen a GT-4 for sale until now. $15k asking price.

As what Shan said...

You could probably get a R32 GTR for a similar price of a R34 GTT.

Or save your money and get the MR2 Turbo.

Yeah I think I will get a stock MR2 turbo. Less cop hassles that way.

Also thinking of getting a shitbox Celica for like $2000 and save all my money for other things (not necessarily cars).

I might take a break from the car scene... We'll see what comes along.

Get an R32 GTS-4 and be a winner like me :ermm:
mine's for sale if you want it.

can supply with stock go fast bits or not depending on how ethnic you get and try to haggle.

comes in 6 different body colours simultaneously.

two owners since new with full books. both owners liked teh go fast pedal.

hahah the abs f**ked up on my gts-4... sounds like someone has had the 4wd fuse pulled out for too long, or has been doing rwd keybangers

mine f**ked up soo badly i coudnt even turn a corner, it would just lock the attessa half way between and it was like jaming the breaks on while trying to perform a u turn hahaha

nah mine just has one caliper locked permanently. It compresses, but then doesn't flow backwards. Guessing there's something in the ABS lines that's acting as a one way valve. Gonna bleed it n see what happens... just need to get around to doing it.

Err.. Your manual comment is void because I CAN drive manual. Would you like to see video of me driving my workmate's MR2 tomorrow? Major inconvenience but I can do it on my lunch break. Would be worth it to prove you wrong... :(

FYI, I don't want to have internet arguments. They're gay. So after this reply just leave it kthx.

Oh and I have driven SAU people's cars before. First one I ever drove was Chad's 32 and he will back me up if he reads this.

If I managed to handle that clutch I'm pretty sure I can handle a standard one :(

wow panties in a bunch, post up saying you don't like internet arguments and you keep goin on fb and SAU :P nice.

lol standard. yes :(

never go into first gear

only go into first gear when you are stopped

if the vehicle is moving, the lowest gear you should select is 2nd

again this would be from sub 30/40km/h

you dont need to downgear in sequence but dont go from 4th to 1st or 2nd

theres too much ratio difference. if your in fourth and slowing down, goto 3rd and brake a bit

use both to slow the car down. not one. if you stick with using one (ie engine or brake)

when you need to emergency stop you wont clutch in, which will mean the car wont stop for peanuts

in an auto when you brake, the engine is disengaged from the clutch, so you stop normally

if you do the same in a manual ,the car will pull up heaps slower and take much longer, cos the engine and clutch are still engaged. ie like slowing down a spinning wheel whilst someone is still pedaling behind on it (on a bike)

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
