he was ripping it on a crowded street if he slipped on the brakes he could either smak a drunk fool crossing without realizing what was happening or maybe even lost the rear end and gone into the people sitting at the cafe's. not likely but possible, especially if the driver dosnt know what there doing.

i agree its way overhyped, the guy seemed to be in pretty good control of his car, however it wasnt really the safest spot to do it. if it was in a empty car park with no passengers i wouldnt have a problem with it. however the law wouldnt see any difference.

Hmm yeah but a drunk person could cross infront of anything, I'm not quite sure how drunk I would have to be to not notice someone ripping a big burnout next to me though. I wouldnt know because I have never even attempted to do a burnout, but if you felt yourself losing it surely you would be able to stop before you went flying into a cafe. Youd have to be pretty stupid to keep your foot on the accelerator the whole time.

As for the ferrari incident, a I understand what happened was:

-Hektik dude gets married, rents $150,000 ferrari

-Not used to the ferrari's power, handling or controls as he has never driven anything other than his hyundai excel.

-Fangs it and loses it on shifting to second which woulda been atleast 50kmph and keeps revving till he runs into a car.

I do agree it an insane spot to rip a burnout though, you cant really expect to do this and not be crucified by the media and have an example made of you by the law

Partly laws against stuff like burnouts is to stop tools who don't know what they're doing from hurting themselves and others. Go to failblog.org and check out "Burnout Fail" to see what I mean. If you can't be bothered, basically an idiot in a beemer does a burnout with the door open ... and gets thrown out and nearly runs himself over.

Burnouts aren't dangerous if you know what you're doing ... but there's no way for the police to know who knows what they're doing, so they have to make it illegal for everyone. The other thing is that stuff like burnouts is best done in an environment where those present appreciate such things. If I'm going to a drag race or something I expect clouds of smoke and bellowing engines. If I'm having dinner down the street ... not so much. As the previous poster put it, burnouts and dinner don't go well together.

It's stuff like this that gives us a bad rep, and it's a lot to do with why police harass import drivers. If it wasn't for idiots like this we could enjoy our cars (and our meals) in peace. Come on guys, keep it safe on the street, and save fanging around for the track. It's what they're there for.

the amount of drivers out on the roads that dont have a clue what they are doing is ridiculous......it amazes me as to how did they get their license......out of a cereal box perhaps......

Getting a driver's licence in Australia is so pathetically easy ... there's nothing in the driver's test that examines your ability to control a car. You might get the brake pedal and the accelerator confused on a regular basis, but so long as you indicate in the right places you're fine.

What we should do is get rid of the minimum hours requirement for learners (about 120 in Victoria I think) and replace it with a couple of sessions of driver training. A few hours on a skid pan, learning how to control a slide, how to stop quickly without losing it, stuff like that. It would teach learners a lot more than dozens of hours driving in traffic. At the very least, the government should introduce subsidies for people who want to learn to control their cars better. It would save a lot of lives.

there is a bit of both out there....inattentive driving plus people who think they are the next schumacher in their vn commies......it should be mandatory for the Learners to go through defensive driver training as well as do the 50 odd hours of supervised driver training.......i know my lil bro is going through his learners atm and i make sure that i make the point very clear to him in regards of inattentive driving or thinking that he is the best driver on the planet.....dont take risks and i will be making sure that he goes for those defensive driver courses.....

That's pretty much what I'm on about. They put their indicator on and change lanes without looking because they've used their indicator means they're allowed to change lanes as aggressively as they want without looking. Women who delve into their handbags either on the passenger floor or the seat and yank the steering wheel left as they reach over.... the list goes on!

Not even 20 minutes ago I got beeped at on Tapleys hill Rd by a woman who I was behind at a set of traffic lights. Lights went green and she slowly sped up to 40-45Kmh so I changed lanes and went to move in front of her and she sped up and beeped at me. Then disappears in my mirrors as she slowed down again to 40Kmh....WTF. I think I saw her get pen and paper and write down my plate

I get that all the time. People driving slow in either left or right hand lanes. I change lanes to pass them, then suddenly they don't want me passing them so they speed up. Then when I do get in front, they carry on like idiots and tailgate me. :banana:

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
