Iv got my rb25det s2 r33 and has 650cc inj, bosch pump, dsr430 turbo, fmic, linkg4 etc

Was wondering if straight drop in 272deg. 8.4mm lift camshafts are too big for my setup?

Iv tried searching...but doesnt quite make sense to me... what deg cams would i want for my setup? because will 272deg make power too late in the rev range? or...?

im hopeing for about 275+ at the wheel...

I know there massive...but would they do anything being that big?

if u get gears and dial them in, you can definately get them to work for you.. the secret to anything good is R n D, and I cant say I have much faith in how much research OR development has gone into those.. never heard of em to be honest.

thats not to say their shit, try find someone else using them and go from their results.

If your hoping for 275, stock cams will be fine.

Camtech do 272/9mm lift for 25's.

but I really think its pointless at that power level.

Its been said time and time again stock cams have worked well at 370kw's +

Well whats somthing else that could be better spent on the car power wise? i would like some advice! :P

you will be fine, dont know about that turbo tho. My mechanic worked on a 25 with 270 tomei cams, sure the had more lift, but his power delivery wasnt too bad. Definitely useable.

But that was with a gt35r

Is the turbo you have specced capable of making the desired power level?

Money is best spent getting that right.

Looks like a Chinese style 430hp turbo... so highly unlikely it will make 275rwkw.

Probably closer to 230-240rwkw with a nice taste of lag.

No turbo that costs $450 AUD is going to be nice...

I mean the cams just about cost more than the damn turbo... that's just telling you there is something seriously wrong :P

OP - Forget the CAMS, and spend the money on a DECENT turbo.

The turbo claims to make 270rwkw on an rb25det...and they have some dynos for it too... i know its still a cheap turbo and a decent turbo is the way to go but i dont have that much to pay for a big pricetag turbo...but i know i shudnt skimp out on somthing so important...but this turbo seems to look like it will do the trick? if what they claim is true....

^ Hub dyno mate, it's not RWKW.

So if you spend the CAMS money onto the turbo, a nice decent Garrett or similar, then the car would perform much better in all respects.

You'll probably still be shy another $400-500, so perhaps save up that little bit more on top and then do it once you have the cash together.

A GT3071 would be what you are after IMO. A nice 260rwkw, would be superb streeter.

Take 10rwkw off that dyno sheet as they are using DIN which is an old correction factor (what the US uses), it should be in SAE J1349

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
