Hey everyone.

Last night, my car got sideswiped, bastard drove off.

Thing is, he left bits of his light assembly all over the place. I managed to put the pieces together in a rather amateur NCIS manner, and on the bottom, it shows NISSAN japan ICHIKOH 3429 L

There was also bits of a headlight protector there.

I wanted to know if anyone has a hook up with Nissan, or can tell me the model that this part came from. Our street is a pretty quiet one, and only local traffic goes through, so it might help find the arsehole who did it.

The only lucky thing is that they swerved away from my Skyline, into the Swift that the missus drives. If the line was hit, I'd be too livid to type this, and probably in a violent rage, or thoroughly drunk.

Anyone who wants to be a smartarse about owning a swift, consider this: If we didn't have that, the missus would have to drive the skyline. Her understanding of the manual gearbox seems to be limited to mule kicking the clutch, and throwing the gearshifter like a softball pitcher's fastball. It's little, auto and usually cheap to run.

We have full insurance though, but the $600 excess sucks, as we're trying to save for a wedding.

anyhow, any help would be appreciated.

thanks

NISSAN japan ICHIKOH 3429 L

ICHIKOH are apparently a headlight manufacturer.

Is "3429 L" the entire code? Search engines keeps returning "3429-L-303" if that means anything :)

You could try calling a nissan dealer parts center?

Yeah did that. Servicing couldn't help and the parts section do not answer their phone apparently. I've sent an email, and will try again later (called three times this morning, 9am, 10am, 11am.)

pretty sure its a lhs indicator off a 2000-02 nissan pulsar.. if you see one near by check it out to see if they numbers match to be 100% sure..

If it is, ask a few panel shops nearby if anyones come in lately with that kind of damage..

Good luck mate,

Johno

Okay the part numbers are a wild goose chase. I recommend doing what I've been doing for you, i.e. looking at the physical shape of the headlight and google imaging each and every Nissan model there is (car classifieds websites are good for this). So far all I've come up with is:

Looks about right to me. Some googling turned up a russian site where the part is for a nissan bluebird, which is sold here as a pulsar.

I'm going to wander the streets looking for one with a busted left headlight, and will call in to the nearby workshops.

Thanks a heap for that Johno. Much appreciated.

Looks like the Pulsar indicator to me. Is there a pub close by to your house? Maybe go wander around in the carpark every night for a few days, see if you can find the car.

Can you find any foreign paint marks on the Swift?

No paint marks, but there are grey curls of plastic, which I assume are from the other cars bumper.

Really shits me when people do that crap and drive off.

Damn it man, that is cruel!

The NCIS stunt made me lol though... as simple as it seems I don't think many people would think of that. Good work and I hope it means that you find the #$^%&*^%#@$$%^& *ahem*

I am on and off in your area, i will get the word out so people around keep an eye out. Will do my best to find this a-hole. I also had a similar incident but was unlucky with my findings a couple of years ago. You have my eyes and ears bud! Will also contact some places i know that deal with jap specific cars that are a bit more "backyard jobs", never know what could come up. If you want PM me your mobile, i can contact you easier if i find anything.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
