A few months ago I saw a dark green Stag, just like mine up here on Tamborine. Well I flagged it over and had a chat

to the owner. He was selling soon so today I went to the Sunny and picked her up.

And it has an N/A grille just like mine.

But it is an auto, RWD, 25G. Yes an N/A S1 Stagea.

145k, duco is a bit sea shore weathered, insides are very good. Drives like a dream. I was very impressed with the run back to Tamborine. Smooth as and a nice RWD sense of oversteer. For an N/A it came up the mountain remarkably quick.Who needs a turbo? I do! This is for the P plater.

From what I know of the car it was a personal import from an Oz guy who lived in Japan for a few years and he brought it in as "Personal Property" and had it complianced as such. I got it from the second owner.

Apart from being N/A the only extras it does not have that mine has are tweeter speakers in the A columns and the electric tailgate closer.

Does anybody else have an N/A 25G?

first stag I've herd of minus a tailgate closer...

Got to remember a 25G is virtually a "Poverty Pack" LOL

But it has everything else that the RS has including weather strip, P/S is missing.

The interior is a much softer velour and has a full set of Stagea motif floor mats and is Stagea matted in the cargo area. It is only the 25G badge on the tailgate that gives it away and the N/A grille. But The RSFOUR has an N/A grille.

I just might put the turbo grille on the G, that willreally confuse the plebs. :P

She is officially called "THE G"

There is one of those little telescopic aerials on the P/S front bar with a little green lamp? on the top. I did see a post where an M35?? had one.

How or when does the little light come on. Is the telescopic part electric, if so how does it come on??

Need to get some answers before I start pulling the guard liner off

Hugh you can have my RS4 badge as I am debadging mine!

Seen this?:

and it appears neo engined ones like my first S1 came out in late 97 but the 96 n/a is quite zippy anyway.

If you have that button/switch in the same location as in my picture in that post, that should be what controls the light.

Heya hugh. I saw some RS models and 25Gs in Christchurch and at yards in Qld a few years back. I mentioned that these rwd models in S1 and S2 were great value and generally cheaper than an RS four. Most S1s interiors are poverty pack, but recieved a huge facelift with the S2 RS. Tangents and a few other members on this forum have one. But yours is the first S1 I think?

All are in auto/tiptronic and n/a and are significantly lighter than the 4WD platform. If you can get one cheap enuf you can manual convert and turbo up easily. I recall hearing that there is gonna be a few manual rwd n/a M35s available for compliance soon too. How much did you pay because i know that these are really cheap and widely available in NZ. But somewhat sort after in Oz.

oh man....I admire your dedication for collecting nissans (a problem i share....) but NA and auto???? ouch.

I think it is the only one in OZ. Its in very good condition and is quite nippy without the 4WD. And its for my 17yo L Plater, soon to be a P. :P:)

hmmm, i'd be very keen to see what it's like on insurance... i guess, realistically, all the parts are already in aus, but i don't think it would show up in the database if it hasn't been approved for import.

Third party fire and theft $300 with NRMA.

There are a fair few Skylines in Oz with the DE motor, auto box, and RWD so thats no problem. The body is the same as other Stageas and the front strut towers look like normal OEM RWD with 3 bolt fixing for the strut brace.

When I first imported early last year, I sore a N/A green stagea from Tasmania up for sale. Was imported for race use i'm pretty sure, Though i have herd of other people with N/A stagea's in Australia, although is very rare.

I may have seen you in this Saturday night.

Got off Beenleigh South Exit. heading in through Mt Warren Park.

Your left outer tail light is also broken :)

I was in the Celsior with the Japanese on the back window :)

Actually I was lost. Normally get off North but missed.

I'll check the tail light. Ta muchly.

    • I personally would go with cutting out the rubber. Then deal with getting sleeve off separately. Rubber can be painful to cut, it loves to jam up cutting tools. I normally have success with drill bits, deburr bits, angle grinders, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, and never forget... fire. Obviously different tools won't work in all locations you're trying to work with, and you need to be comfortable with each. You personally may be happy slowly slicing it out with a razor blade, if you are, go for it with one too! Feel free to wait for others to weigh in also on their thoughts.
    • So ... I got everything disconnected and started dropping the frame. Three of the four mounts started to come down but the fourth one (the one with the nut that gave me all the trouble) won't budge. The inner metal sleeve stays up tight against the chassis rail although the outer part of the mount drops a bit (and can be levered quite a lot more) but it's just stretching the rubber bushing. So I reckon there's some serious corrosion inside the inner sleeve and holding it tight to the lug at the top of the bolt. Tried everything I can think of so far: penetrating oil, whacking the top of the sleeve to vibrate it and wedge a screwdriver blade in there. I also tried to turn the inner sleeve a bit by hitting it with a chisel at the bottom. It's stuck solid. What do you think about cutting the rubber with a blade so I can drop the subframe around it anyway. Then worry about getting the inner sleeve off after? Will that work? Is it gonna give me even more problems?
    • Steam valve seals are usually responsible for cold start smoke, it goes away once engine warmed up. Disconnect it let engine breathers and let it breath freely, see if problem goes away after a short drive. Also check to make sure engine oil drain pipe is not blocked or kinked.
    • Haha thanks! Yea I'm moving over from 2x 1000cc jets pre throttle over to 6x 190cc direct port jets and 1x 500cc pre throttle jet.  Direct port comes with all the advantages you would expect, except that pre throttle does cool down IAT'S more. That's why my direct port nozzle placement is closest to the plenum as possible in the runners to allow the air more time to cool before being sucked in. I'm also putting that one 500cc pre throttle jet to help with more cooling. It's a hybrid system. There's a lot more advantages to moving over to a PWM solenoid with a constant pressure system vs my old PWM pump setup, but I'll get more into that once I'm done converting everything over. The ricer in me is excited to see SS tubing all over my manifold though!
    • Very cool, see what I did there? 🥲 Wild WMI setup, first I've seen where it's on each cylinder runner, usually I see a single jet pre throttle.
