to be honest jason,

usually the better way to go say if you wanna go check out a car in nsw or something.. is call up a mechanic over there and go 'hey can you guys check this car out for me' etc etc etc... they check it out, give you feedback on all mechanical things, you go 'BAM!!!' deposit... fly over there, take it for a drive yourself if you prefer, and then buy...

but if this dude was flying over... he wouldve had a mechanic look at it and made a deposit at that point... it's the smartest way to go or the car is pretty much still free game '-_-

interesting... saw the ad on carsales the other day and was going to give the guy a call to check it out.

My advice is don't be rush into anything, and don't just change your price because someone has offer more. If you are happy and want to pay more than go ahead and do so but don't let someone push you into it,

there are plenty of gtr out their im sure if you miss this one you soon find something

I had a look at a 1995 R33 GTR V-Spec today in Mindarie. Looks very very clean and in pretty good nick with just over 80,000kms on the clock (standard dash).

However I am not too sure if the vehicle has been in an accident prior to being imported to WA. Where the A-pillar meets the roofline, just under that point on both sides there are what seems to be small weld marks and the paint on the roof and rear guards looks to be "newer" than the rest of the car. The chassis rails, insides of the doors, under the bonnet and in the boot, all seems to be dead straight so I can't be sure. Took the car for a drive and it drives smooth as silk and the chassis feels very very tight. I'm pretty sure the rear left suspensino strut is farked, but other than the car is pretty darn clean.

Here's the link. Anyone ever seen this car or know anything about it?

Cheers guys!

With regards to what seems to be "weld marks" on the A-pillar, the marks look exactly the same on both sides of the car, so I am thinking it could be a factory blemish? I'm not too sure but the car drives really nicely and the engine is nice and responsive etc.

lol i was gonna ask that guy if he wanted to trade + cash

liked the look of that 33 ;) especially the TE37's!

but hey if you end up buying the car and don't like the rims, i'll take the fall and take them off your hands :ermm:

never seen this before, maybe try and go look at some other R33 GTR and see if they have them.

my advice is if you can spare the extra cash buy a S3 R33 GTR; the headlights just look so much better

Yes Kaido_RR - I do agree with you, the S3 R33 GTR's look much better but there aren't any for sale in WA.

Yeah I will check out another R33 GTR and see if it has the same "marks" upon those pillars.

Lol this GTR has Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R tyres on them (i think that's what they're called) so they are expensive

Really, if you're having a budget of 40k, 33gtr would be the perfect model for you as you'll have heaps left and getting 1 of the best example with your budget.

I think series 3 are nice to have but really, most people like them because of the xenons. If you can find a series 1 or 2 in mint condition, by all means get them. Mine's a series 1 with xenon.

Yes. Projector would be the correct term but a lot of people here just refer them as xenon (34gtr's got xenon got hasnt got projectors).

I dont know if they're direct fit or were they factory option etc. They have them when I bought the car from the importer.

I'm also going to take a loot at this Midnight Purple R33 GTR V-Spec 1996 model.

Seems to be a reasonable price, however i won't be able to see it until Sunday at the earliest.

Not to be rude, but Rohan's LM has around 104-105k kms on it on the original dash, with auction papers and history....

Fail to see how the purple one is reasonably priced ($100 less than Hany's?) with 320km dash and 103kms..

James - I don't mind Rohan's LM, but the fact is that even though it's a limited edition and only 98 were produced, they won't appreciate at all.

Basically, what I'm saying is that it doesn't matter if it's an LM edition or a V-Spec, it's all about the condition. If I were to find a R33 GTR with low low km's and in dead stock IMMACULATE condition I'd pay up to $31-$32K knowing that I am buying a car that won't screw me over.

From what I know about this midnight purple GTR, it's clean, straight and (no offence to anyone young on here) hasn't had any young owners. The current owner is 55 years old. I'm sure you can see my point.

But, I will continue to look around for an R33 GTR (pref a V-Spec) that suits what I want.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
