I dont get how you 170rwkw 33s are pulling 0-100 in sub 5's.

Thats porsche/ferarri/lambo territory. With double the power and similar weight. And they get loads of traction, the standard tires are wider then my cars 4 tires laid side by side :)

I personally would take the gtech readings with a grain of salt

Ahh the nittos, I some how missed that in the list :)

hey speaking of launches how's your clutch hanging on? cushion button @ over 260rwkw should be danger territory no?

I can answer that for you. Nearly identical setup as PM... and my Cushioned exedy button @ 250rwkw very quickly wore out with decent launches and some clutch popping :)

My car cant even chirp second anymore lol.

Glad we got onto the subject, any recomendations? I have been told exedy make a heavy heavy duty (yup, thats right, double heavy) non cushioned button that should be fine. I can get this for 500 bucks.

Talk to Dan at ERD about it, he can get good clutches at great prices through NPC, tell hime how much power you make and what you do with the car and you will get the perfect clutch for your needs

and i can answer that for you... as that is what i am running (with the upgraded GTR pressure plate... the guys at exedy said it will hold more power than a hyper single)

so far its 2000km old and has seen the GOR once and a motorkhana day (DECA) with 325rwkw

i love this clutch... its easy as all hell to launch and makes quick shifts a piece of cake.

for daily driving it is totally livable and i would happily reccomend to anyone

My clutch is perfectly fine. Been running it at this power level for probably 2 years now. No sign of it dying. However I don't do clutch kicks or limiter launches so that definetely helps.

Not sure how long it will hold at 300kw, but we shall see. Luckily the car is no longer a daily so should hold up for a bit of a squirt every now and then.

Did you only need the 4 pineapples? how hard is it to drop the sub frame to install this ? any ideas? I need to change my setup

hi guilt toy

i dont know the best setup, but i had centreline setup the pineapple diff cradle package on my car and from memory its on drag launch setup and its never been changed from that. from their documentation drag launch is really maximum traction, from memory mine is on that. i have std shocks still

On the note of clutches - I'm getting an Extreme clutch that Japanese Motorsport recommended - It's still organic but apparently should hold 300rwKw and still be kind enough for street use... can't remember the model off the top of my head...

Fingers crossed the car will be ready on Friday (which also happens to be my bday - nice present to myself! :) )

It's a piece of piss to do as you don't drop the whole subframe out since the bushes have a split in them so they just slip in. The kit will come with 6 bushes but you only use four, depending on which of the three setups you want.

just as i would take the exotic manufacturers' 0-100 claims with a grain of salt ;)

that and the newer cars are getting into the low 4s and even high 3s (allegedly)

I've often heard stories of certain companies who get their WRC drivers *cough cough* to have a day at a dragstrip with an unlimited supply of new cars allowing them to run endlessly until they reach a time they are satisfied with...

Case in point: The VE HSV GTS (while still a cool car) Holden claim a 4.86s 0-100 but no independent reviewer has gotten it to go quicker than 5.5s (although that is with traction control on i believe...)

Yet people have endlessly tested new GTR to perform to the claimed 3.5-3.6 seconds :)

had to add that.

Excellent. Good news. Did you ask exedy for the upgraded GTR pressure plate? What does it cost?

Well if its doing 325rwkw ok then my power shouldnt even make it break a sweat. I'll order one shortly

I did actually read a review / comparison in Motor magazine a few weeks back against a Porsche GT3 in which they couldn't get the new GTR to go quicker than 4.5s 0-100 which i found very interesting... Most others as you say report around the 3.5 mark...

Not a chance in hell a 170rwkw Skyline is pulling sub 5 second 0-100kmh sprints.

Thats like a kid at school once telling me:

Kid - "Hey Matt, my car does 100km/h in 4.1 seconds"

Me - "f**k, thats quick for a stock carby 308, how did you measure that?"

Kid - "My stop watch"

Me - "f**k yeah"

This was his stock as a rock VK Calais.

Same/Same.

No idea what my 0-100 was, but went to the drags with a mate in a well modded early shape WRX (1250ishkg), he was running 12.5, I was 12.7, his lauch was hold limiter, and side step it, with semi slicks. I was holding the limiter and slipping, with exhaust, pods and boost, stock suspension and cheap road tyres, we were both getting 1.6 60ft, check this shot off the mark... This is why stock suspension is so good down the quarter..

on the topic of clutches, i know exedy make such a thing as an HHHD for cars like the SR20 silvia range, and i have been told by my local clutch place they could order an uprated clutch at $100 per uprate.

I do know however the early model GTR clutch kit has a different PN but is almost identical, so im assuming that the difference is the clamp load, so question here is; are you guys talking about getting a HDB to suit an R32 GTR in place of a HHDB or HHHDB as it would be a similar clamp load? and does anyone know what sort of clamp load exedys HD GTR plate is?

as for traction: I have a mate with a 260rwkw 32 GTR, with the awd turned off he still has full traction off the line with a fairly good launch.. I dont know why we struggle with the GTSTs so much... hes running 17x10 255/40 direzza dz101

all very interesting, i have been contemplating changing to a GTR mech LSD for the longer ratios (if it is the diff and not the box that makes them longer) as i think that could aid alot with traction, and seeing as my car will be soon running a 3037 and rb30 combo, that will probably turn out better anyway (as per my personal theory).

    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
