haha, yes same, i was expecting a longer list of mods

Pretty much as you said Steve.

Although i would just get 3.5" from the outset personally. Once day you might decide to get slightly bigger turbos etc and a tad larger exhaust could offer benefits.

Certainly no need for a 4" unless you are planning on a 400rwkw+ sorta build.

Also some merge's actually go to 3.5", i know the trust ones do... so certainly not all front pipes end up 3" @ the merge.

The trust ones do? The trust ones I had were 80mm, so I guess there must be a couple of different sets? They were all sorts of old though. I don't know the merge size on their new stuff

agreed on the 3.5" now but only if definatly going bigtime powerwise in the future ;)

Oh and something else Ash and I will agree on, got some money you just have to spend? Call RacePace for a custom exhaust. No one has done more RB development in Australia than them

My cat back is xforce. Yeah, huge suprise it hasn't been a restriction yet.

Tomei dumps. Hks front pipes.

As Ash said, list everything first

Interesting, it supports the theory that the exhaust is much more critical towards the front and less so at the rear.

Who's theory is that?

I'd argue it's equally as important the whole length. No point having a great front section if the back end is junk

Yeah actually, he spent 45 mins with the microtech the night before driving it to Victoria due to a faulty ecu another forum member sold me.

Yavuz wasn't happy with the tune but he said it's enough power for a weekend of fun but super safe so nothing will happen. On 98, 371rwkw 18psi. No mechanical changes the next tune was 403rwkw, maxed injectors changed to ID2000's and then tuned as is. Wait until my new exhaust is done, I'll be straight back to Yavuz for another tune with more boost etc

Edit; sorry, that was 3L. No one in Sydney ever tuned it while it was 2.6L, I misread your question, sorry. Also it's an 87mm bore, so a tad more than 260cc, but who cares it's splitting hair. Sorted out your pipes?

Ahh sweet. Do you know where Yavuz set the cams to? (thats if you have adjustable cam gears)

Re the pipes. I went to Westside exhuast on Friday. They quoted me $600. Went for a drive to Hypertune today and they said "a couple hundred". However they are in the middle of moving so they said to come back in a few weeks and they will have a better look. Just off first impressions I dare say i will get hypertune to do it.

No. 3.5" should do it. 4" if you want to be sure.

If I can make 455 with a barely 3" anyone can make 500 with a 3.5" IMO

+1 I make 330 with 3" dumps into 4 inch and am looking to make a tad under what N1GTR has without changing it.

if you can fit 4" it will save you from the "is my exhaust a restiction" dilema further down the road once the wick is turned up.

3.5 to 4" is not much cost differance either, 4" is more common in pipe size if you going to get one made.

Anyone know roughly what a 3.5" catback custom exhaust costs? Just a ballpark figure. I have a great exhaust setup from the turbo rear to a massive high-flow cat, but after the cat, it's shit (just reflanged to fit on to the cat until I can get something made up).

They're adjustable but set to zero still

you know if hypertune do it the welds will be perfect

im not looking for outright power at the momemen, i just want to highlite that charactaristic rb sound.

what will give me that? are dump pipes needed? do dump pipes change exhaust note?

some gtr's i hear are quiet, even with exhaust. some are too loud. i want a medium volume with that rb hum (if you know what i mean)

the car will stay standard at the moment, i just want a nice sounding exhaust.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
