What to bring back as personal import?

Gav - if you sourced the car from the UK it'd be RHD wouldn't it?

Just a thought..

True, however UK cars are a heap more expensive due to their initial import tariffs, and smaller market compared to the rest of Europe.

Fellow over here bought a 1999 M3 BMW (LHD) last month with 25,000 kms for 20,000 Euro. I had a drive and it feels like it goes bloody hard, although couldn't do too much on the icy roads!

Hey Gav

How about something a little Italian? Maybe a Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione II?

Or maybe stay Jap and see if you can pick up an R33 Autech 4-door from Prospec Motorsport Co. in the UK (http://www.prospec-ms.co.uk/)

Or even a Nismo built R34 GT-R V-spec Nur:

The Audi A8 sounds nice though, or maybe one of the high powered BMW (Alpina, Brabus) or Audi (RS) Estate wagons. Or what about a little Lotus Esprit Turbo (or Lotus Turbo Esprit?). There's also the Lotus Carlton - they're a bloody weapon, and although they didn't get released in RHD (as far as I'm aware), one of the Williams Renaults wouldn't be bad. An older car might be a Fiat Dino V6 (same engine as the Dino 246 but with an iron block).

1989 Lotus Carlton:

1995 Lotus Esprit S4s:

1995 Audi RS2 Avant:

2001 Sportec RS4 Biturbo Level 2 (outta reach but till awesome):

2001 Renault Cli Sport V6:

Cheers

I've already got one quote for transport from Japan to Bulgaria at USD2,900. They are guessing for similar cost back to Oz.

Round trip of under 5 large (Oz $) with no duties certainly looks attractive.

Gav, Steve is working on a couple Lotus's at the moment, let's just say there a tad underpowered, and constantly having problems, not my choice.

A tad underpowered??

I don't think so Annie!

Those Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbos are very very powerful and very quick!

And they are very very sexy looking cars :P

Hows-a-bout a BMW AC Schnitzer. Similiar to an m3 but has been worked on by Schnitzer- sorry to state the obvious. There is also a BM where the shove the M5 engine into the M3 chassis and then upgrade the brake suspension etc. Perhaps someone could help me with the name?

Either on of those Go hard.

    • No worries.  I have a set of Zeals to get me through for the moment but would definitely be interested in a full set of Bilsteins. Are you doing race support these days? I drove past the Bend when I picked up the 260 rs but never driven the course. How does it compare to SMSP? I'll be at SMSP tomorrow afternoon and on the 26th of June in the morning. I'll be in a very loud (straight through exhaust and straight cut gears) silver R35 GTR. Cheers, Andrew
    • Hey all. I'm up to doing my oil and water feed lines. Has anyone done a tutorial on this on a 25det Neo? ( I know i should be asking for a tutorial on how to use the search instead, but I couldn't find anything specific) I'm running a Pulsar 3584 on a 6 boost manifold. I could use some advice on what fittings, sizes and where to run the lines. Thanks for any help.
    • Hi, I have someone interested, if it falls through I'll let you know.  I have a brand new set of fronts that  I sourced from Bilstein UK, now revalved and complete with springs to go with the very lightly used rears, if you are interested in a full set. As Duncan has mentioned this is not my job, I sold my suspension business over 10 years ago, but I am here to help when I have the time.  To give you some idea of my schedule I was at SMSP for the State Championship for 4 days the weekend before last.  Then The Bend for 4 days last week and back at SMSP testing this week, a day visit to One Raceway, then the SMSP Day Night meeting the weekend after.  I was hoping to squeeze in a dyno day with Scott on my R32 this week, but that's not going to happen, that's the second time I have had to postpone. Apologies if my responses are slow.   Cheers Gary
    • Talking about tools, my trombone cleaner arrived, talk about weird speciality tools....
    • Ha ha ha, I read that he had it based on brownie points so knew it wasn't going to be sold   I also am only shit stirring on buying, while they'd all be great cars, I don't need more, I actually sold one a few weeks ago. And immediately bought more tools...
