well, I don't know too much about how expensive toyota parts are, but it would seem reasonable to assume they are a lot cheaper than nissan parts.

But are you also saying that the 1jz is easier to cheaply mod for better performance? Because im sure the RB26 has just as many parts out there to give it the same gain for similar prices, as far as aftermarket goes, just guessing though.

Why do people feel the need to quote the entire post when replying to a large post, particularly when you're the first to reply?

This is a pretty cool project. Props on going the 1JZ route they are brilliant engines and if it were worthwhile transplanting one into my R33 I would.

Eric.. the parts of the 1jz are stronger.. by upgrading just the turbos add a boost controller and fuel reg.. you can actually raise the boost to 1.6bar.. which makes your 1jz engine have 580bhp with stock internals.. the rb26 cant handle that high boost with stock internals..

oh i see... so it offers easier modification while maintaining as much stock parts as possible and it can still withstand all the pressure put on the engine?

Im young and still learning, so bare with me haha.

Thanks for the information :(

not quite - a lot of RB26's run upto 600hp on stock internals, most important thing for any engine is the tune. don't think the stock 1JZ injectors would give you enough head room to push that hp (even with raising the base Fuel Pressure with the FPR).

for instance, I have a setting of 22psi for my RB26 (using HKS GT 2530's). still think the !j conversion will be great though :P

well done man...

and to all aussie guys questioning why he did this - in thailand, malay and phillipines.. the 1JZ is a very cheap and easy to access engine..

RB is a lot more expensive!
